This is a short Dexter's Laboratory theory, in case you all forgot Dexter's Laboratory was one of the good Cartoon Network shows that sadly ended back in 2003, and there was just one thing about the show that just didn't make sense to me, and sure there were a lot of things that didn't make sense on the show, but the one thing that always seemed to trouble me, was Mandark's backstory, and I forget which episode Mandark told his backstory in, but the one thing that seemed to trouble me about that episode is that his parents who are hippies, and no offense to anyone who are hippies in real life sorry, is the fact that his parents couldn't tell that their so-called daughter is a boy, and yes I know there is a fifty percent chance of the baby being a boy or a girl, and I know that the show isn't going to show Mandark's mom giving birth to him because well it's a kid show, and maybe the parents just didn't know for sure if they were going to have a boy or a girl so then they kind of just winged it, and then by the time that they realized that it was a boy maybe it was too late to change his name or something like that, and I do think that Mandark did get carried away with telling his backstory a bit, and knowing Mandark of course he is going to claim that he was a boy genius ever since he was a baby, but I just felt like Mandark was hiding something from us, but what?
Perhaps it's the fact that he is transgender, and in case you don't know what the term transgender means, it basically means that a person who is a boy or a girl just decides that they're not okay with being who they are just for their own personal reasons and then they decide to switch genders if you will, and I guess this is the simplest way to explain what being transgender means, of course there is a more complicated way to explain what being transgender means, but for the sake of this theory let's just go with my definition of being transgender, now do we have any evidence to suggest that Mandark is transgender, well yes a lot actually, and the first clue we get of him being transgender is the fact that his real name is Susan, and if Mandark is transgender this suggests that he or she was a bit of a tomboy growing up like that he or she was interested in science, and yes I know that there are many female scientists today.
However, you see back during the great depression let's just say that women today were not exactly treated equally like everyone else was back then, and this basically means that men thought that there were certain things that women wouldn't be interested in like wrestling for example, or baseball, or hockey or any other activity that only men were expected to enjoy, but not women, so yeah let's just put it that way, anyway, and I think the same goes for Mandark here he had trouble being a girl so then he tried to think of himself as a misunderstood boy who is secretly transgender, and knowing that Mandark isn't really one to discuss his feelings of course his parents aren't going to help their son accept who he is because they just don't understand what he is going through, and then to make matters worse he meets Dexter and you can bet that he thinks that girls just aren't as smart as boys are so to speak, and maybe perhaps Dexter knows that Mandark is transgender this would explain why he laughed when Mandark told him that his name is Susan and that he is interested in science like he is, yeah I'm suggesting the real reason Dexter laughed isn't because Mandark had a girl name, but he laughed at the fact that he was interested in science just as much as he is because Dexter thinks that girls aren't smart enough to be scientists, and I think that the reason Dexter thinks this is, because of his sister Dee Dee and how she acts around him, but Dexter needs to realize that not all girls are like Dee Dee that there are many smart girls out there in the world, so yeah mainly Dexter thinks this because of his sister Dee Dee, and no I'm not suggesting that Dee Dee is not smart in fact she is one of my favorite characters of the show don't judge me, I'm just making a point that girls like Dee Dee can be just as smart as Dexter is if they put their mind to it.
Anyway Mandark or Susan becomes so upset by how Dexter treated him because he is secretly transgender and that's just when Mandark goes full transgender so to speak, like he cuts his hair short and he probably used a machine like how Dexter used a machine on Dee Dee to turn her from a girl into a boy, and maybe he did the same thing here maybe he made a machine that was similar to the one Dexter used on Dee Dee and he used it to turn himself from a girl into a boy, after all Mandark does like to copy everything Dexter does so to speak so who's to say that he didn't build that machine first before, Dexter did just so that he could turn himself from a girl into a boy, so yeah that's really all the evidence I have to suggest that Mandark is transgender, but what about him being adopted?
Now I know that he has the same hair as his father, and supposedly Mandark has a sister, but I think Mandark was trying to clone himself so to speak and the clone didn't turn out great, or maybe Mandark tried to make an evil clone of Dexter, but the clone didn't turn out like he expected it to, and we have seen with Dexter's grandpa that being the genius of the family seems to skip a generation or two and that's where Dexter got his smartness from so to speak, so could it be the same case for Mandark here well we never see Mandark or his family mention any other members of the family, and not to mention that Mandark doesn't act anything like his parents and not to mention that he acts like a parallel to Dexter if you will, they are both boy geniuses, they both have not so smart parents and a sister who tends to drive them crazy, and they both have secret labs, and they both have pets, Dexter has a monkey while Mandark has a duck, they both love Dee Dee, but Dexter being the boy genius that he isn't going to admit that he loves his sister even though she drives him crazy, but we have seen many episodes where Dexter comes to rescue her or even team up with Dee Dee meaning that even though Dexter has never admitted that he loves Dee Dee he definitely seems to show actions that suggest that he does love Dee Dee as his sister, but he's not going to admit it probably because he thinks it makes him look weak, anyway there are definitely a lot of parallels between the two, and it almost just seems too coincidental if you ask me, oh my gosh I just thought of something totally mind blowing!
Okay everyone, prepare to have your minds blown what if just what if Mandark and Dexter are related, but they just don't know it, and they never do find out not even in the series finale, now okay I know that you are going to disagree with me, but just hear me out now we do see an episode that shows how Dexter's parents meet, but we never did learn what his mom's maiden name was, and in case you were wondering your maiden name is the name that you were born with, and people do tend to change their names once they get married, and the same goes for Mandark's mom we never learned her maiden either, but wait we learn that his mom's brother's name is Fergal O'Reilly so that suggests that his mom's maiden name is O'Reilly, and yes I am upset that we never did get to learn what Dexter's last name is, but wait what's this O'Reilly mentioned that his mother does indeed have a sister, and even grandpa mentions this unnamed sister in the series, so that means that Dexter and Dee Dee have an aunt that they never knew about, now do we get any clues as to who this unnamed sister could be, well unfortunately no those episodes were the only time that his mom's missing sister was mentioned and since his mom hasn't really talked about her missing sister probably because they had a big fight or something like that, so we have very little to go on, and we never see the missing sister or do we? What if just what if Mandark's Mom is the sister of Dexter's mom, after all she is the counterpart of Dexter's Mom, but the question, is do the genetics match up, well there's only one way to find out science!
Okay, so we know that Dexter's great aunt is named Dextamina meaning that she's the sister or sister-in-law of one of his great-grandmothers meaning that she is probably either his father's great grandmother's sister or his mother's great grandmother's sister or his father's great grandfather's sister, and you pretty much get the idea, but she is only seen in one episode so we will never know for sure whose side of the family she is from, but if she is from mom's side of the family her original hair color would probably be a reddish orange color, and the same goes for Dexter's Grandpa he would have hair just like Dexter's when he was younger because people's hair does tend to turn gray as they get older, the red hair genetic treat would then pass on to his mother and her brother as well giving Dexter his red hair, now this is the part where it gets tricky in order for Mandark's Mom to be his mom's sister she must have gotten her hair color from their mother because she has not inherited the common red hair color gene, okay in some cases the hair does look red, but it's more a pinkish red so to speak, sometimes it looks pink, but then at other times it looks red so which hair color is it pink or red, anyway if the genetics match up here it means that Dexter and Mandark are cousins and that Mandark has a crush on his own cousin, how is that for blowing up your minds? I don't really have much evidence to suggest that Mandark is adopted, but tell me what you thought of this theory. do you think that Mandark is transgender, or that him and Dexter are somehow related, do you think he was adopted, just tell me what you thought of this theory, and if you want me to do more Cartoon Network theories let me know that to.
