I hope your state goes up in a fireball. I had to hump my ass around all day in freezing temperatures for a few months there and all I could feel towards the state is enmity for everything.

I like it a lot. Sure, It's got some cringey people (it is a university after all) but overall it's not like it was presented back when it was in the news for the student protests a few years back - depending on what department you're in of course.
 
From someone who has lived most of their life in Missouri, I'd say it hinges deeply on gun rights. Even in the bigger cities, this is a big deal. For the most part, only on college campuses will you see people against gun ownership. After moving to the east coast, I have been very surprised at the number of people who actively state their position against gun ownership. Now, to be fair, I did not spend nearly as much time on the Eastern part of the state, but many I met around the Ozarks had similar positions to those on the West. I can't speak for St. Louis though.
Guns are a big deal in MO.
 
outside of any major city in Missouri
it's gun-toting conservatives (in the sense that they only want small government)
deeply religious fundamentalists and its very anti homosexual.
In then southern State of Missouri you got Cowboys, Rednecks and Truckers.
and them good Ole boys don't take kindly to government , city folk queers and niggars (this means Mexicans as well).
