I gotcha I just can't see this beyond than a dumb fanboy pandering technique, especially since this is the same company that pulled a similar stunt with Silent Hill a couple years back when they made a lame ass top down dungeon crawler spinoff.
Which reminds me, the more I look at Metal Gear Survive, the more I have to say to myself "I never thought I'd get annoyed by the amount of fucking fog in a Konami game"

After a few missions in the second area this game drops two huge plot twists on you that are so ridiculous that they're amazing.
You find out the world you're in isn't another dimension, it's the future in the 22nd century and the monsters began as medical nanomachines that spun out of control and want to mindlessly propagate and connect with everything to the point where they use time travel to propagate and connect more, over and over again because they've already taken over everything in the future.

So it's like those goofy time travel/alternate universe what-if plots in the past games that were just non-canon weirdness for the hell of it made canon?

So is this like an MMO where it's only online and they would pull the plug if there's a lack of interest like so many online games? I plan on buying it on sale, I'm only mildly upset at Konami.
