All suppressors are a pain to clean.
I think it has to do with them being difficult to manufacture.
When 3D printing in metal becomes more of a thing we'll probably see them more often.

I forget if I mentioned my Vday gift to me (much to mrs basso's dismay aside her new toys that go in her butt and the OLED switch but I digress) was the newest hi point 10, and it's STILL on back order.
So it's sold really well and that's super based.

So, I'm makin' a list and checkin' it twice in preparation for the great drought, thinking about what AR15s I want, soliciting suggestions.
I have a Mk12-alike at the moment.
I've got enough lowers remaining for 3-5 uppers, pistols are possible but I've already got pistol configuration .308 and 5.56/7.62x39/.300blk size frames of a different platform already so unless it's something really neat I'd be inclined to pass. But "neat" can override this and I have a single lower that can easily not become a rifle at this point.
My thinking so far is:
-20" SDM-alike in .223 (thinking the same basic contour as an SPR barrel, specifically with the .730" collar step down, but 20" and fluted under the handguard). Gotta have at least one 20" .223 build like stoner intended.
-20"-22" 6.5 Grendel, no specific clone pattern I'm going for there, just want a rifle designed for long shootin'.
-16" in .458 SOCOM or .450 Bushmaster

I'm intrigued by .224 Valk but that seems to basically be a 6.5 Grendel with a projectile size trade-off so that seems like maybe "either or" rather than "both" is the correct answer on that. Perhaps I'm off base?
The .458 SOCOM/.450 BM debate I'm not 100% on, leaning .458 due to the bullet selection, but is there anything that might sway me towards .450 BM aside from ballistics or obscure hunting laws about straight-sided cartridges?
As for the last 2...
The only thing I don't have any semblance of at this point on any platform is an ultra-light build though I'm disinclined to go full WWSD with it, especially since that would entail buying another lower. Any parts in particular people are fond of for non-KE arms lower ultralight builds? I assume that path basically would lock me in to a JP lightweight BCG + adjustable gas + light buffer system of some sort, so what would be potentially up in the air is the upper itself, barrel, and handguard which isn't a heck of a lot of things to consider. I'm slightly disinclined to go carbon fiber, but that's not a firm disinclination, and if I did I'd probably go carbon fiber wrapped barrel from a well regarded carbon wrapping mfg more-so than the handguard...and actually now that I think about it I DO have an ultralight handguard/contiguous top rail from the days of very-yore that I need to repurpose...hm.
Which leaves potentially 1 build where I have absolutely no inclination any particular direction so any suggestions for AR based oddities are appreciated. Maybe 9x39? It seems there's been some actual development there so I'm curious if anyone has heard anything or tried any 9x39 stuff out.

I'm a weird ammo geek (but because I have pure autism instead of blood I only like weird dead end ammo from 50+ years ago) and ya 224 valk just flopped. I don't think like some alt ammos made for AR there will be a hype train or rebirthing.
I mean, as I said, I'm into odd shit so I hope you make one for it, but fucks all I know about it. So I can't help much.

-.458 SOCOM for that sweet, sweet, somali slayer
-The shortest possible 5.56 barrel you can find for a portable flashbang

I wouldn't bother. Ammo would be nigh impossible to get ahold of since that cartridge isn't used outside of the Russian military and from what I have heard, nobody else is interested in adopting it. I also highly doubt it will see outside manufacturers adopting it anytime soon. Literally the only person I've heard fucking with it was Brandon Herrerra.

This would explain why there's uppers being produced for 9x39, I hadn't realized he decided to direct his sperging that direction. Prior very recently there'd only been vague allusions that it could be possible but not actual support.
On the topic of short 5.56s, I have Gordon Carbine inspired plans for a different platform in the 12" range already, so that probably qualifies for the flashbang on a stick role.

i took my friend to the range today as he's got a hellcat and not much time shooting it. we weren't expecting a discord meetup in the lane next to us, but it happened. there was a 6 foot 2 dude dressed like a goth chick, at least seven people in pajamas talking about new vegas, and someone in literal clown makeup and a bad dragon hoodie. i think one of them heard when i sidled up to my buddy to say something like "don't look now but it's a whole reddit convention next to us," because according to him some of them were staring daggers in my back when i was shooting. a real funny time.

Have any of you bought weapons using https://gunbroker.com, and if so what was the experience like?
I'm waffling between something that's pretty readily available through local outlets (the Sig 716i TREAD) and its piston-based, discontinued counterpart (the Sig 716 G2) and if I got for the latter, it's going to require some sort of online marketplace.

It's easy. Literally just eBay for guns and accessories. GB is usually used to gauge current market value of guns.

Always read the description, check how they want payment (some sellers might only accept money order or check, for instance). Often times the seller will charge an additional 3 or 4% of the final bid for credit card/debit. See what they charge for shipping. Some sellers charge a ridiculous shipping fee, >$50 dollars sometimes.
Finally, keep in mind that GunBroker charges a not insignificant service fee:
Generally speaking, if your choice to acquire something you're looking for is between GunBroker and some other source, you'll be better off using the second source unless the difference in price is egregiously in GB's favor.
That being said, if GB is your only option, they're absolutely fine from a service standpoint. Just make sure the seller has a decent amount of positive feedback from other buyers. IIRC, they'll reimburse you on a bad purchase up to ~$400. For more, you'll have to sign up for purchase protection, which is an additional fee.

No, but I have bought ammo. It was easy but not really painless for a millennial, and from what I've seen GB is pretty good about getting rid of scammers. Lots of old timers use it and will refuse any digital money transfers, so be prepared to wait weeks from "buying" to actually getting whatever you bought, and to do a lot of post office visits. Also everything @TheGreatDodongus said. You also may have success with private sellers who don't give a fuck about state bans and will ship you things you normally can't get, but obviously buyer beware on that.
Honestly, after the hassle, unless it was something hard to find or order locally, I would just have a gun shop order me whatever I wanted or get it off of a direct buy site like Buds Gun Shop or something. I still keep an eye on it occasionally in case something relatively rare or interesting pops up, but I don't use it for regular purchases.

I'm somewhat embarrassed about not knowing of that particular cartridge, because 7.62x25 (and 7.63 Mauser) has always been my autistic caliber obsession.
Given good ammunition with sabots that don't disintegrate & separate cleanly, I wonder how fast those things could potentially go; particularly from a PCC-length barrel.
Hot damn. I wonder if it'd be possible to find 3D printing polymer that would work for sabots, even maybe something like sintered-metal, that would break apart/powderize after leaving the muzzle.

All I have is an Airsoft Pistol. Special Needs Justin Trudeau has banned guns that used bullets last year but I still needed a way to defend myself. It's something I'll use for target practice. A lot of Gun stores try to sue Justin Trudeau because of this.
