It's hard to trust any sources about that because in the last few years they have laid off close to seven hundred million people. How many does Bungie employ?

Chiming in again to say that post-launch layoffs were inevitable but I hope you Destiny losers are happy that your seething about a TEN YEAR OLD GAME ending live service resulted in a massive campaign against an extremely polished and entertaining (albeit massively overdeveloped/over-budget) shooter, ultimately resulting in positions being eliminated.
Steam reviews are clearly being tanked by weirdo diehards that are throwing a pissfit because they can't get NeW cOnTeNt, weird twitter accounts exist solely to talk shit about the game, and there are entire subreddits dedicated to shitting on Marathon. I'm sorry the $60 game that you got to enjoy for 10 years doesn't have new content coming (you can still play TEN YEARS of content lol) and sorry you're going to have to wait a bit longer for a new one (if the studio survives).
I basically gave up on multiplayer FPS two years ago but the style, low price ($40), deep lore and commitment to tasteful paid content (no rappers in the game) made me give this game a shot and it is one of my favorite games to come out in years. Tense to the point of reaching survival horror, great population of squad fills with mics, fun inventory management, a fun PvPvE blend, season wipes, and frequent updates have made this an absolute breath of fresh air.
Hopped on for two hours last night with some friends that haven't played all season and we hit Outpost with pretty basic gear. Ended up out-strategizing two different elite teams, stole two keys and loaded up on great gear before having one of the most tense exfils I can remember, barely surviving as a team tried to snipe us from a nearby rooftop.
Probably no convincing you at this point but the friends that haven't played for two months cannot wait to hop back on tonight and try another few runs. Gamers are such whiny babies and negative commentary always resonates further than positive feedback.
>Give a studio eleventy trillion dollars
Far be it from me to be a tranny, faggot, nigger defender BUT, just to be as fair as I can, it seems like a lot of shit was a result of either leadership and/or poor direction. In D2’s case, the team was fully capable of delivering good content still (relatively, gay shit would still be including so.). As far as marathon goes, Joe Ziegler is a disgusting half Asian bug man and turned what chris Barrett wanted (a more PvE focused, story driven shooter with extraction elements) into a gayer version of Valorant. Regardless, it would appear that middle and upper management are why this studio will burn in front of everyone for our entertainment, not the devs themselves.>Give a studio eleventy trillion dollars
>Receive a DOA laughing stock of a game in return
>Decide that it no longer makes sense to pay the devs for no return
>YOU'RE RUINING THEIR LIVES HOW DARE YOU??
I don't (just) find the hysterics laughable because they're defending gender specials. The main reason they deserve to be fired is that they are costing more money than they bring in.Far be it from me to be a tranny, faggot, nigger defender BUT, just to be as fair as I can, it seems like a lot of shit was a result of either leadership or of poor direction. However, being gay, non-binary retards doesn’t help their case.

I'm having a great time! I've posted in this thread twice but have been reading the entire thing. It is worth calling out that a large portion of criticism for the game is coming from Destiny people that haven't put any time into the game. Read the last 100 pages of the thread and you'll quickly realize the same people so sad ;__; about their FAVORITE video game being FUCKING DEAD are picking apart the game and wish death on a studio because they can't shoot new monsters in an epic limited time spacesuit. Its just super fucking gay and catty (I know, partially the theme of the forum) to be this emotionally invested in an old video game. I like supporting unique ideas and like spending my limited video-game free-time trying different games that deviate from things I'm used to. This game is exactly that and the vocal audience that primarily shits on it has been playing the same game for ten straight years lol. Enjoy your circlejerk, I'm gonna hit a run before I go out with friends tonight.
I haven't played Destiny 2 since the first raid released. I don't give a fuck about it, its a bad game that I will never touch again. I'm STOKED the game is getting the sour ending it deserves and I think the kvetching about it is hilarious. It is worth calling out that a large portion of criticism for the game is coming from Destiny people that haven't put any time into the game
post ur mile time, faggotEnjoy your circlejerk, I'm gonna hit a run before I go out with friends tonight.
This pisses me off too, I have buddies on Linux that want to play but won't sacrifice their OS for this. Now I can't even play the game without infecting my PC with Windows 11 due to their insane decision to include kernel level anti-cheat.
The color scheme is really refreshing after playing sand shooters for the past ten years. Player count does not contribute to your experience of the game at all, I've never ran into the same people twice and no lobby is every empty. No idea what the homo-agenda is about outside of speculation ITT, not a single thing has stuck out to me in-game as "gay".That's not even getting into the abrasive color scheme, poor implementation of extraction mechanics, abysmal player count, and homo-agenda.
Okay, this is admittedly hilarious that you made the thread yet don't understand that "going for a run" in the context of the game is... using a runner shell to play a round. Maybe you're kidding with me but kinda proves my point about the hate coming from people that haven't played it. Your complaint about anti-cheat is valid and supports your inability to play, so I get it. I also believe the amount of money spent on it is INSANE and there is a lot to talk about regarding how Bungie handles gamedev in general. However, the product is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be.post ur mile time, faggot
Gamer here, never played either one of these dumpster fires (I loathe live service "products," and don't play multiplayer games w/strangers ... I'm more a strategy/simulation/city builder nerd anyway), and even I can see Marathon was hot garbage from day one. Like most people I was aware of OG Marathon as an also-ran Doom-but-for-Macs game, and during its first life I found it impressive Macs could be useful for something besides desktop publishing ("oh how cute, look at that, it thinks it's Doom!" I remember tormenting my Mac friend with). OG Marathon was made by a much different company with very different developers, interested in making a good/fun game that happened to run on an under-served niche market (MacOS), and it stood out alongside a handful of others as genuinely good products in a sea of shitty games made by Mac zealots.Wyświetl załącznik 9192435

What fascinates me about this is there are games that allegedly require kernel-level anti-cheat that run just fine on Linux via Steam. Whatever shims are used just lie to the game and say "yup, all good" and it gobbles it right up. First Descendant comes to mind (and that fuckin' skinner box locks down tight). It always impresses me when a modern game emerges that refuses to run on the current SotA Linux gaming stack, as it requires special, deliberate effort to make it not work. This pisses me off too, I have buddies on Linux that want to play but won't sacrifice their OS for this.
This wasn't "unique" in the "valuable" sense of the word. It also wasn't a new IP. This was literally "take the skin of an old game and slap it on our generic team-based extraction shooter flavor-of-the-month" The Game™. It's only unique in the same sense that one snail's DNA makes it technically unique from all other snails of the same species.I need to stop sperging but frustrating to see unique projects get shit while generic crap for Mexican teenagers makes billions. Reception like this won't encourage risky development and new IPs imo.
wow homie won't even post his mile timeOkay, this is admittedly hilarious that you made the thread yet don't understand that "going for a run" in the context of the game is... using a runner shell to play a round.
I really have to push back on this. No one has to play a game to know they won't like it. Especially when its a $40 investment and steam refund only covers 2 hours.hate coming from people that haven't played it.
You came into the thread and had an attitude, which is a great way to farm negative stickers. Its fine to like the game. Most of us are upset because we WANT to like this game, Bungie is just making that impossible for us. Just look at @creaturestorm , fellow blast haver. He's simultaneously the games biggest supporter in the thread, as well as the source of the most poignant criticism.I'll take the hate against me for... liking a game (???) and all the MATI reacts you want to throw at me but there really is a neurotic vendetta against this game.
Marathon is a recycled IP at best, which is part of the problem. Trust me, we all want to see game devs take risks and make new shit. That's not what they're doing with Marathon. They're cannibalizing Destiny, old Marathon, and DMZ to make an unholy and distasteful mess that doesn't resonate with the player base. Risky? sure. But not new and not all that creative either.Reception like this won't encourage risky development and new IPs imo.
Nah, keep going, it funniI need to stop sperging
*WORDS WORDS WORDS*
God that’s fucking brutal, even for the middle of the day (MST in the US for me, mind you. Maybe the game is popular with euro-fags? Idk.)Imagine thinking Bungie is making it out of 2026, or 2027 at most.
Nigga, the company is headed towards the iceberg and today was just rearranging the deck chairs.

Place your bets if this will be firewalk studios 2.0 and Sony will shut down the game and studio soon?
I've stated this previously but I'm serious enough to re-iterate:Imagine thinking Bungie is making it out of 2026, or 2027 at most.
lol based non-Bungie player. Right there with 'ya. These goofballs sperging is almost as funny as this slow-motion dumpster fire of a studio slowly immolating itself.I'm just here because I love trashfires
Hate to break it to youI've stated this previously but I'm serious enough to re-iterate:
If Marathon still exists on January 1st 2027, I will personally buy "True and Honest" for @creaturestorm
So, I got 20$ on the game not making it thru the year.
How much could they possibly be earning in MTX from so few active players? Unless literally every one of those players is a whale and they're selling thousand-dollar consumable "packs" that actually get bought and consumed by those whales, that can't possibly be breaking even, much less turning a profit.Sony will do anything for those sweet sweet microtransactions.
Most of the real talent left before Halo was ever finished because they knew Microsoft was not a good company to work for, the rest left when their stock options vested.my kiwibrother, Bungie is dead. every remaining trace of talent in that studio was scattered to the winds over a decade ago. they are nothing more than a walking corpse, a corporate slop assembly line. they are incapable of producing anything worthy of notice. this downward spiral is an inevitable result of the personnel massacre forced on them by Activision; by the release of the original Destiny, they were doomed to be nothing more than a publisher subsidiary, producing and maintaining mediocre live service games as they are bought and sold and traded and auctioned until eventually somebody closes them down. 10, 15, 20 years from now, everyone will be reading the headlines, shaking their heads, saying, "Damn, what happened to Bungie? They used to be so good." this is what happened to Bungie. we're living through it right now. let your good memories of them live in the past.
