And Destiny's final update will leech all of those players back in 6 days. Even an idiot would know better.

>similar to destiny 2 while costing 10% of a monkeyzillian minimum wage
lol
lmao even

one huge difference between diestiny 2 and marathon is that D2 is fucking free
That "free" comes with a huge fucking *
Didn't I say they'd be lucky to get half of their peak numbers back? I've seen enough flops to know how this works.

This shit hit like 30k and the servers exploded.

What a beautiful trainwreck.

While they had same issue with Destiny DLC at least they had almost ~1 million players across platforms during DLC releases in the game where most players concentrated in one region. But having issues with 30k players when they did fine with 80k is crazy.
It pains me to say it but I bet if Bungie had listened to that one suitnigger who tried to make Marathon a hero shooter, the whole studio wouldn't be on the blocks at U-Pull It right now
If I remember correctly, they actually listened him and now the game has classes (Triage, Assassin etc.) in opposition to having same character as a base for customization like in Tarkov. It was never about making Overwatch-like game (unless I am missing something).

Hmmm. I'm thinking back on my assessment of the announcement.
RIP you fuckign onion fairies.

Honestly, looking at what's happening, it's hard not to interpret it as suicidal, bordering on sabotage. Like this is 'crash the plane with no survivors just to spite the terrorists' level of planning here, and i'm genuinely wondering if it's intentional.

- Announce the final update literally two weeks before your other tentpole is about to have it's first major and pivotal update, ensuring a significant part of your core audience feels betrayed and aggressively interested
- Also, this announcement is coming as your new tentpole is starting to slip below the original, suggesting it likely has a worst resting level than the tentpole you're now cutting.
- Announce this with no major fanfare to ensure your related influencers and the like are left in the lurch, panicking, and lashing out
- Schedule said final update for one week after the other tentpole's first major update, acting as an attention drainer from it.
I now wonder if this is all a big play to try and make the game free-to-play.

- Release a free week with a new update for the best possible conditions.
- Time the end of the free week to have a potential huge resource drain.
- Use that to argue that the game should go free-to-play for best results.

It's not a completely terrible strategy in a vacuum, but that's still a dumb reason to put all your eggs in this basket.

Dude, you had fucking 30k players. How did that cause your servers to completely melt down like this? :story:
I remember around a year ago when people began playing Battlefront 2 en masse again to send a message to EA that they wanted a next Battlefront game (35K player peak up from 1.5K a month before) and when I participated there were 0 hiccups serverside that I noticed, and I played a lot those days. Do note: this is a game for which support was dropped in 2020, 5 years earlier!

Make it make sense that a game not even out for 4 months is incapable of taking an anticipated (medium-sized) impact like this, absolute retards over there.

Not in I.T.; how feasible would it have been for Bungie to get away with lying about the cause of the server(s) failing? As in, corroborate the mara-bot cope that focused DDOS-ing was the cause, and Bungie affirms that cope to avoid embarrassment.
If it was a one-off, very very easy.

Considering that this has happened to Bungie probably close to a hundred times and the fact that even at a 30,000 player spike, they had a fairly consistent 70k just three months ago is borderline inexcusable.

I know everyone likes to be a hater here but I decided to hop on yesterday to try the Night Marsh map and I couldn't put it down. I had countless tense, funny, stupid and outright terrifying moments. I played a bit during S1 but idk, this is my favorite shooter in years and years. Definitely helps when you've got a friend squad.

If you like it, like it dude. Just know you’re playing slop, that’s all. If it’s fun for you, dope. It’s not what ANY of us Destiny fans asked for and it objectively killed our game. If Bungie was competent and handled both games at the same time, I’d have no issue with it. But, they can’t, so they killed my game in favor of Marathon. So Fuck’em, and fuck the game.

I think they have to delete the game you bought first.
Don’t give the trannies ideas, Cryo will be shot in the head before you know it.

It's not (strictly) about being haters, but, yes, having a friend squad will help literally any game that's ever existed.

The issue with the game is players not having friend squads or squads at all and the core gameplay loop not being fun enough to repeat more than a few times (when the game requires people to actively play) and not being fleshed out despite being in development for countless years by hundreds of developers.

...and tell all the $40 admission blast-havers that there's no refunds?

basically do what they did to destiny 2 players? kek.
bungo loves fucking their players anyway but most of the times they were under a publisher they desires to fuck over their players was contained.
