Not a criticism but a personal failing: I can't handle a palette with more than maybe four colors. So many decisions!
I understand that feeling so much OMG!

aside from the product formula, I think a big factor behind what makes a palette good is how cohesive is its color story. a good palette, even if its larger, will offer many many color combinations that look nice. Doesn't mean the colors have to be samey or anything, it can still be varied.

I can't bring myself to buy a palette if I know I will not use all the colours. I only own two, so there's not so many choices.
This is the other palette I own (Its NYX "Denim Baby", I think ive mentioned it in this thread ages ago in fact) and I love how cohesive it is!!! In a single makeup look you'd probably use 1-4 shades at most, and even though the colours are divided by quads literally every combination would likely look pleasing.

Okay so the other day I found this really cute dress at the thrift store and it didn't have a tag on it, so I was hoping you guys could help me pin it down. It's white with black polka dots and red rose pattern print with a black waistband(?) It's SUPER cute and I wanna know what brand made it.

It’ll be near impossible to identify without seeing it.

This is the closest I can get without taking an actual picture, but it had slightly longer sleeves and had a metal tag on the side that said "deploise tes ailes"

Thanks to EmoMom I could pin it down a lot!

Only listing I could find so far, it's an XL and it seems this pattern production may have stopped as far back as 2016, according to their website history and logo use from internetarchive wayback machine.

This style of pattern was also heavily popularized in early 2010s by Katy Perry or Gwen Stefani so I have a lot of reason to believe you won't find it in normal stores

"KSL Mini Dress Fit-Flared V-Neck Short Sleeve Jersey Pullover" from kslsport. You'll have more luck looking on french thrift websites. I looked, and couldn't find more for the one above, so here's some dupes you may like:

Vintage Retro Look Dress Womans M Swing Black Polka Dot 50's Bbonlinedress, Vintagevogue Collete floral swing dress, GRACE KARIN Sleeveless Vintage Floral Tea Dress with Belt, H&R London Floral Colette Swing Dress (White)

I still recommend the aforementioned brands if you like that type of clothing 🙏

Have any other lady Kiwis given up on pants?

I wore skirts and shorts in my teenage years but now that I'm an adult I'm putting a lot of effort into cultivating my wardrobe, and I've decided to wear dresses full time. I don't know why women stopped wearing them, they're so comfy (especially when menstrual), look great and are more flattering to a woman's figure. I'm Kibbe Romantic (for those of you familiar with that system) and pants, no matter how well fitted or tailored, make me feel boxy as fuck. Anyone else on the "pants are a psyop" train or is it just me?

I tend to prefer skirts too. Generally pretty frumpy ones, I guess, cos I’m Jewish.

If I may sperg a bit here, I both mostly agree and really hate this sort of take. Like, people are allowed to enjoy media but when they're allowed to run rampant and make the fandom just a toxic mess without any gatekeepers, that's when it becomes a huge issue. Gatekeeping is important to make sure communities stay away from becoming shitholes. This kind of belief is common among fence-sitters who try to be all like "gatekeeping is wrong! fans are allowed to like things!" without realizing that this sort of thing is why fandoms become so toxic in the first place.

TLDR; You can like something and not be a "real fan", but if you intend on being a complete asshole both to others and toward the thing you supposedly "like", get out and stay out.

I'm mainly posting this here because it's a channel I like to watch where she discusses dolls and stuff.

It's the last Friday of the month and that means going clothes shopping at the thrift store for half off! Of course some were given pink tags (discount doesn't apply) but I managed to get a bunch of good finds for less than sixty dollars! I was in a bit of a summer mood so I mostly got those based around summer.

- A Suzy Shier dress with adorable cherry print
- Lavender and white Dyanmite brand dress
- Some tanktops and skirts
- This purple thing I think you're supposed to wrap around your waist

I don't really feel like navigating 230 pages so if this is a repeat, please forgive me. I'm retarded.
But does anyone have suggestions on inexpensive nail polish that doesn't immediately flake off as soon as it dries? Maybe I'm just dumb, but I feel like that always happens to me. I'm probably doing something wrong.

Invest in a topcoat / clear polish. It'll do you wonders and make the paintjob look a lot better. I know there's also matte topcoats if you want that sort of thing.

This is mostly anxious overthinking but hi, I want to get my hair dyed for the very first time. I was thinking something cute and Neapolitan with bleached strands + some pink on a few of those strands, but I have no clue how much this would run cost-wise and doubly time-wise. Maybe hime-cut bangs...? I have no clue how to describe this to a normal human person without sounding overly autistic with it. Can anyone help? Do I just tell her I want a cut and dye and then show her these photos??

It really depends on how dark your hair is and if you have virgin hair. The pink pieces as well as highlights will need to be bleached unless you have level 10 blond hair. It will probably take at least 2-3 hours and treated as a half or full head of highlights or a balayage or creative color, depending on how your salon charges. If you have darker than light brown hair or resistant/color treated hair, it could take up to 8 hours. Cost depends on your area but budget anywhere from $300-$1000 for the chemical services. Haircuts can range from a $30 add on to $150 depending on the stylist. Some salons include toning/coloring what they bleach in the cost of a bleaching service, some don’t. I would contact your stylist beforehand because you’ll probably want to do a consultation, color appointments are usually booked as an all over single color with no bleach, so be prepared if she doesn’t have time to do all of this at your appointment. Photos are always great, so definitely show her what you want. There are so many trendy terms for different cuts and colors that it’s just better to show photos. Make a folder on your phone with inspiration pictures of what you want so you can hand them to her and explain what you like/dislike about each one.
Other things to think about, that color placement is pretty high maintenance and will need to be touched up every 4-6 weeks, as well as color safe hair products. If that’s overly committal, consider asking for a balayage or shadow root to allow for more longevity, like 10-12 weeks. Length and thickness of your hair will also affect the price and how long you spend in the chair. Be completely honest with your hair dresser about any chemical treatments, such as previous color, perms, Brazilian blowouts, etc. that you have done. This way she can better predict how your hair will react to the bleach and how to formulate it. Consider adding on a deep conditioning treatment and purchasing a bond repair shampoo/conditioner/mask like Olaplex for after care.
