Fucked up as this sounds, would it then be fair to assume 007 gave more of a shit about Bill than he did his own son? Granted, he made Bill’s life a living hell, but I think the principle still stands as you said, that when he and his cronies lost their hold over Bill, it was the equivalent of losing a child to them.
