I just had a quick look at the time limits for personal injury claims in BC, and in general it is two years.
There's a weird exception to that if the plaintiff is disabled, but the defendant can file a notice to proceed which starts the clock ticking.

He will absolutely be going up against an insurance company here and they play hardball unless things are open and shut (even then they try to negotiate the settlement down). They're going to want a ton of medical evidence which Yaniv simply doesn't have and he will also have to be reviewed by their medical experts. He will be expected to undertake treatment to treat and stabilise any conditions which he claims are part of the claim, and he's not going to like that.
This should be fun because the process alone is going to lead to tantrums.
