cuz everyone wants to talk about red son, or how superman could use his powers to be a villain, but noone talks about how superman just wants to be normal dude, like in the comics, he wishes he could just be Clark Kent

The problem is good normal superman requires talent, a gimmick is just so much easier. Best one I've read lately was Daniel Warren Johnson's comic from red and blue but I don't know if that can be considered regular for how hard it intentionally tugs at your heart strings.
