Hot take: You don't care because you're afraid you'll lose what you care for in the same way a person does not try because they fear failure. If I had to guess I'd say you probably lost one or more persons important to you early in life and developed into how you feel as a way to deflect the pain of loss you experienced. But that's just me guessing.
