Freezing my butt off. I live in a place where it practically never snows, let alone stay below freezing for more than a day at a time. But now we have lows in the single digits with lots of ic on everything. I am very bad with the cold. At least I don’t have any reason to leave my house the next few days. Even my porch and driveway are iced over. I’m on a hill so one wrong move getting the mail could hurt. Some major roads are closed. At least we have enough food for a bit just in case.

I’m mostly worried about my friends. They’re trying to get back home right now after being in the next town over. I hope they make it safely without issues.
 
Frustrated. RC boat keeps leaking water through the prop shaft tube into the hull. I have tried White lithium grease and petroleum jelly and it still leaks. I did order some marine grease and will see if that solves the issue when I get it.
 
you ever get that feeling where something just doesn't feel right? or like something's missing and you can't tell what it is? that's what im feeling right now and its hovering over me like a dangling sword of Damocles over my head ready to fall.
 
Some of you might know that I was pretty ill in November. I found out it was from chronic kidney infections, causing me to sleep for literally days. The issue was largely resolved, except I might need surgery sometime in the future. Since it seems it isn't bothering me, I'm not doing shit about it. While this was going on, COVID was ravaging the asshole of the world, putting everything out of order, including setting my research back at least a year plus. Well, it set everyone's research back. Massive supply chain issues (God help you if you're doing PCR as the COVID tests rely on PCR).

So on my quite literally first day back after my illness/COVID/Winter Break, my boss had previously mentioned a medical. It wasn't so I could recover and come back, it was to 'explore my options'. Yes, while I was ill for months, along with COVID lockdown hell, this asshole is basically telling me he doesn't give a shit about my situation and to fuck off because I didn't have results.

I remembered that rocky quote "No matter how hard you get hit, you stand up and keep going" except this is me getting pummeled into the fucking Earth.
 
It dropped down to -15F, wind chill -35, "Feels Like" -50F. My poor furnace is fighting a losing battle, everyone's bundled up, and I'm just glad my furnace c an keep the house above 72F.

Fucking alert across the phones normally used for tornados and shit saying "LEVEL TWO CHILL ADVISORY!"

Talk about fucking cold.

And tomorrow night will be colder.

Even funnier is looking at the 10 day schedule and seeing that in 7 days it'll be 50F+

God I know how that feels. I have a three year old niece who's like a little ball of sunshine.

She likes to take these little Disney Princess dolls, tie one of them up with a red shoelace, hide it, and have me have a couple of the other dolls find and untie her. Only for her to jump in, snatch the doll and run to the other side of the house. Repeating the process all over again.

Lord knows where she learned that from, but damn it's precious.

Where I live, it's usually so warm that you don't often see snow. But we just got hit by an ice storm that froze over the roads and forced us to close the store I work at early. Woke up this morning and there's snow everywhere and there's apparently a winter storm on the way.

Apparently, this is the first time something like this has happened here in 20-30 years.
 
There's a significant amount of snow on the ground here, for the second time this winter. Normally we never get any.

@Jet Fuel Johnny will laugh, but we don't have infrastructure for ice and snow. I'm not going back to work until Wednesday at the earliest; I can't even get there unless I walk right now. The road to the county road is so crusted with Ice that there's no way I'd make it all the way down the hill to a point where the government even *might* do something.

My livestock are all shivering, even in the barns. They weren't ready for this, either. It's 10 F in a place that rarely gets below 30 F even at night. At least I'm here for them, I guess.

But on the plus side, so many parasites have gone to Niflheim.
 
I had my last rehab appointment last week. I tore my bicep and rotator back in June after falling in my wood shop. I had surgery back in October to repair both issues. Meanwhile, I fell again in July loading firewood and I knew I had pulled a muscle but it turns out I also have a bulging disk in my lower back. Now, let me clarify, I wasn't drinking or drugging either time. I'm just stupid-clumsy.

The shoulder feels pretty good, but it's gonna take a long time to get the strength back. However, my back is pretty much fucked. It hurts all the time. I'm reluctant to seek medical for the problem because I don't want back surgery so I'm gonna go the massage and stretching route for now.

My mental state is great, despite the election and the crazy of COVID. I stopped watching television last year, and I'm reading more. The classics mostly, and I'm better for it.
 
Physically, I feel fine. I want to get into a martial art or go to a gym to get my strength back.

Mentally and emotionally, I must confess, I'm doing poorly. Woke up angry, but then I felt fine. Then I found out this person, who impersonated a friend of mine here on the website, decided to ask for forgiveness from a group of people who probably already moved on from old news. I know it's not my right to be angry at this. So I'll just go watch cute cat and dog videos a la tiktok.
 
The lockdowns really reminded me of how much entertainment I like has died. Horror and comedy have both been neutered, but even a cartoon got cancelled over a lawsuit. Someone's talking about bringing the cartoon back but it's been 10 years and he wants to have it continue where it left off instead of rebooting it, which is really stupid but the lockdowns might have killed that idea.
 
Having a hard time figuring out what I want to do with life, spent 9 years in a seasonal tourism industry with little to no advancement opportunities. Been considering starting an apprenticeship as an electrician but I've been too lazy to actually start. Also been very disgusted by clown world and the depravity of western civilization.
 
Pissed off. I work in a facility where we're busy (thanks Coof), and I work night shift. It seems that EVERY NIGHT I'm scheduled to work a 12 hour shift, it's sleeting/snowing. This week I'm utterly screwed as it will start sleeting/snowing between two of my night shifts. I'm not so worried about getting home after night shift #2-- although it will suck, at least I can take my time going home and not worry about missing my next shift.

However, if it sleets/snows between shifts, I am worried about whether nor not I should actually go home at all.
I'm debating on whether to pack an overnight bag and sleep in the lobby somewhere (with a fucking mask on ugh) and hope nobody pushes me out of the building. Can't sleep in my car as I don't want hypothermia.

I'm a low level employee who doesn't want to spend the money on a hotel room, yet I can't afford to wreck my 10 year old car, either.

I used to live in a state that was notorious for snow. Now I live closer to the shore where winter weather isn't as common, and I'm like "WTF?"

I refuse to be one of those assholes who calls out every time there's bad weather. Even if I was one of those assholes who calls out due to weather-- technically my employer doesn't have to pay me any PTO or sick time if I call out due to bad weather.

The rate of moron trips to the ER for falling go up during ice storms. Fuck. Don't walk on ice people. Don't shovel snow if you're fat and have heart disease, either.
