The fact that pretty much the entire gaming industry is resting its entire future on the success of GTAVI is both hilarious and honestly sad to see.

Again. Having never played a GTA game before, what is it about this series that makes it apparently such a holy grail for the entire medium, to the point that other publishers have their fingers crossed for its success?

And heck, knowing that no matter what the naysayers say, nor all the warning signs, that the general public will still propel it to huge heights, why does this series garner such mainstream ultra-success?
GTA III pretty much defined the genre of 3D open world crime sandbox game, it was groundbreaking, everyone was talking about it. Then VC and SA were both stellar followups, so GTA became the gold standard for the genre going forward and there was always immense hype around the next release. It also helped that every other game Rockstar released in the 2000s was excellent too.

I think 6 will be their last. The online component will become even more of a milking parlor than GTAVO, and I would bet money on the fact that they really want it to be a live service game and are working towards making that happen. They already know they have many dedicated whales and they have had plenty of time to observe how Fortnite makes their money.

I think physical pre orders will tank or otherwise under perform if the full game is not on disk (even if it requires a day 1 patch for online). I know 5 had a edition with like 8 disks so Rockstar should atleast be willing to foot the bill on an actual physical game without any of the game key card nonsense we've had lately, but I'll wait for confirmation of that before doing any pre order business with them.
The PC port, probably because of the upscale visuals and the limits of a DVD-ROM with space.

I’m optimistic that GTA VI will be $70 to start, but I expect all retailer websites will go down for a period, similar to when PS5 preorders went out during COVID.
I remember queuing up to get that fucking thing. We were in a mall and I was playing Shantae: Pirate's Curse on my 3DS.
I definitely laughed my ass off when I saw how many CDs it was on when I got home.

"Their last," I find to be dramatic. That said, I wonder where they would go from there. GTA Online has proven to be lucrative as a live-service title, but consumer perception is steadily waning against those sort of titles.

VI Online will be nowhere near as successful long term as V Online was.
It made it's money on the reputation of GTAs before, which (the ones the mainstream remembers) were all released 12 years before V came out. It's been 13 years later, the impact has lessened and is being forgotten, and the games from 02-10 are showing their (slight-to-mid) jank.
VI is going to come out in a time where I can bet the majority of the player-base never played the III era or GTA IV at release.
It's like assuming DooM The Dark Ages was going to sell like madness because Doom 1/2 created an entire genre of gaming.

Will it do well? Of course. But to think GTA VI Online isn't half-meme half-there's-nothing-better-meh today is copium.
It's a better polished APB Reloaded.
Thinking a multiplayer live service is guaranteed success based on the love of a group of single-player games is so inane only a C-Suite could believe it.

I still feel like tomorrow the 19th is the best window for the trailer if they have any hope at all for it to impact their share price in time for their earnings meeting. That meeting is for the 21st right? Releasing the trailer tomorrow would give a full two days for the hype to build and affect the stock price, which is ideal because it will be peaking then and will be before the novelty and curiosity dies down and the price settles again.

Plus it releasing on the 19th is exactly six months from scheduled release so that gives plenty of time for preorders to help them figure what they're gonna need to meet holiday sales.

Do it, R*. Shit all over Forza Horizon 6's release.

Now the time for GTA VI trailer 3 and preorders is tomorrow, May 17th. Let's see what happens.

If they do a trailer in this exact same week as of the preorders, I’d hope that the new age R* would at least give a special Easter egg tribute to Tommy Vercetti. It would only be fair, even if I’m some copium right now.

It’ll be the last game before they make GTAVII a cloud only game. No pun intended.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=blLNekpy5nsFun idea to imagine if GTA 6 had a disaster launch like Cyberpunk 2077 or Fallout 76.
How fans, industry, or take two would react, it can't be as bad as what happened to Volition with Saints Row hopefully.
I love the thumbnail, it’s clearly screaming “PLEASE DO NOT KILL ME”
One thing for certain if they fucked it up: get hyped for “The Fall of GTA6” Two hours video.
Even if the game turns decent enough, I don’t believe it will meet the insane hype and expectations that have been building up for years and years.
Let’s play a game: if this game was delayed again which I suspect, this is your Red Alert to subvert your expectations to the ground

It's time to shit or get off the pot. If they don't kick off the marketing campaign before 5/21 they're surely going to announce another delay.

I think the baseline is RDR2 in terms of what they would be willing to release.

- Graphically advanced, setting a baseline for the game industry (aka you need to look like this to be a 'GTA-killer' or an AAAA game).
- Gameplay wise, flawed, and with half the world simulation systems originally intended in the final product cut out to reduce the amount of bugfixing in the game.
- It will be playable with no serious game-bricking bugs, but lots of minor bugs because of spaghetti code (due to the extended dev period)
- The world will be beautiful/realistic but diorama-like as in RDR2/Cyberpunk 2077 because it is impossible to make deep enough simulations on current systems and because Floridian cities are boring at a realistic scale. Because of the extended dev time, 2026 Vice City will actually be be 2018-ish Miami because of the new buildings built since.
- People will find out that they intended for some full Latin America country to be incorporated into the game, but it got cut down because of various reasons.
- There will be lots of bad pacing and unresolved characterization/plotlines in the story because the plot kept on being rewritten until the 11th hour.
- Woke-lite will be in the background with hamfisted bothside-ism, with Jason having the equivalent of Arthur Morgan's "Aw shucks*votes for Kamala*" wifeguy characterization. You definitely will know that Rockstar was sneeding the moment Trump got back into office and GTA 6 wasn't finished yet; conservatives will definitely be flanderized despite Florida being better-run than both New York and California.
- Online will arrive after release, at worst a year or two later, missing the initial hype of the release.

Honestly, that’s probably worst case scenario for Rockstar, solely on just how fuck huge the budget for GTA6 is, and that’s BEFORE we add the inevitable marketing blitz once we finally have a solid release date.

They need to get the money printer online ASAP, because even at $100 a pop I doubt there’s enough console players out there to hit the break even point, considering the usual wait for a PC release they love doing…

I don't get why he has issues with random encounter missions. They're supposed to be pace breakers from the shoot em up action.
Cause he's a retarded faggot contrarian. I enjoyed his twisted metal series but him talking about literally anything else showed how retarded he is, and vague posting his closeted neoliberal politisperg biases by assuming the fence post "bothside-ism" stance years ago made me unsubscribe.
