I p[laying RDR1 right now (still a great game). The one thing I love most about RDR/GTA is that point in the game where you're just a few missions in. The area around the start becomes "home", the stakes aren't too high yet and you get the opportunity to just chill out and take in the world. Hennigan's Stead and Ganton in SA are perfect examples of this. The early parts of the games really exemplify the sandbox genre and you can see how it became so popular.

Also:
*shoots horse*
*horse falls over*
"Wasn't as fun as I thought it'd be."

All of Marston's lines when he shoots a horse are funny but this one just got me for some reason. For the next hour I'd randomly think about it and start laughing.
you know ive always felt this but never put it into words because I thought it was just me lol

Revolver is good too, though I've loved playing Redemption for a long time. I cannot really say the same about its successor, it's not bad but it's lacking in comparison.
It's lacking because all the realism they tried to put into it ended up being its downfall.

This combined with the railroading created a world that while utterly stunning to look at ultimately feels like a Western version of the Truman Show because you really can't interact with anything in a meaningful way, and everything is so scripted.

Nothing ever changes in RDR2. It just stagnates, and leaves you with this strange cross between feeling bored, disappointed, and slightly unnerved because of how empty, and uncanny valley the world is.

RDR1 doesn't have this problem, and that's another reason's it's the better game.

So did they actually just add taxi missions to the game? Or am I missing something and it's actually like hits or something?
They did and it does.. But that's just because doing taxi work is fun, and pretty much my go to activity on GTA RP.

Honestly, this should have been added in 2014, not fucking 2022/23.

I mean, that's what I was thinking.

Like this should have been a day one thing, or in the case of GTA Onlines shit launch, a year one thing.

It also leads me to believe they're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to content if we're getting classic side missions in online now. What's next? Paramedic missions? I know they won't do cops cause of BLM and shit but yeah...

Since they allowed business jobs to be done in private lobbies there's really no further need to be in public lobbies and just get griefed
since they allowed you to grind on private lobbies you only have yourself to blame for playing public now, course these menus can follow you via SCID but you can use guardian or public private lobby which makes a firewall rule to allow only whitelisted ip's and rockstar's ip to connect to you, effectively blocking anyone else which means anyone trying to follow you via SCID.

Not just BLM, but also trans rights, Stop Asian Hate and Ukraine as their missions. God help us.

The cops. The fucking cops. It takes a while to lose them, and the game tells you at the beginning that after you exit the flashing red/blue spot you can hide in places. Except this doesn't work all the damn time, since either cops will spawn just near you, or know your hiding spot even no matter how secluded it is and a cop will go by your place. And no, there's not even a "last seen going on" chatter. They just seem to magically know where you are. To a lesser extent, but still annoying, they'll ram you aggressively in the rear too. And these fuckers start to pack heat at 2 stars which can happen easily, and oh, some of them will be carrying shotguns which are very lethal in this game. They are accurate with guns, even when you're going fast inside a vehicle. And they tend to shoot the tires off your car.
The reason the cops always know where you are is because the animals of GTA V are all programmed to have cell phones and will call the cops whenever you’re doing a crime. I wish I was joking about this.

I've heard some mixed information about this, but if it was caused by animals indeed that's actually more retarded if you ask me.

I loved Ganton since it really felt like home; your homies are there and you can see GSF gang members chilling around, it's your gang's base of operations and main turf. Plus being a cul-de-sac behind a bridge gave it something of a secluded feeling that's in a positive way.

I think that is indeed somewhat the case. As far as I know it, NPC's are "supposed" to call the police when they see you commit a crime, but since Rockstar left a value in the code out, the cops just automatically know you committed a crime without the NPC actually calling them. I believe this extends to both human and animal NPC's which is why you basically get an instant one star after punching someone.

It's a crime how much worse cops became in GTAV compared to GTAIV.
In GTAIV there always was a delay to getting a wanted star, do it secluded and you could avoid a wanted star, do it in front of a cop car and they would immediatly respond. I miss the cops trying to arrest you, I miss the cops trying to pit maneuver you and dragging you out of your car. I miss the fat cops awkwardly chasing you, or the SWAT teams pouring out of the police van with helmets that you can shoot off.
