Apologies if the OP is shit; I'm still getting a hang of making decent topics.

So I made a thread earlier about lemonteaflower/livethefaggotry, and callout blogs became the main topic before it was closed. With some of @Meowthkip 's help, I've come up with a general discussion thread involving Tumblr Callout Blogs. Here, we can talk about notable callout blogs (and possibly their owners) we come across.

I'll start off with gotoprisonltf (archived), the callout blog dedicated to harassing lemonteaflower/livethefaggotry. The runner of the blog documents almost everything remotely terrible that lemonteaflower has done, including getting into arguments (archived) with other Tumblr users over the fact that ltf has drawn child porn before--including going so far as to cite US law (archived). I have yet to figure out who's running the blog, so it's going to take some digging.

What other callout blogs have you guys come across during your time on Tumblr?

I'm thankful for them when they practically provide proto-Wiki pages about some of Tumblr's most noxious shitlords but at the end of the day they're the epitome of first world problems.

I recall when Rebornica was making call out posts a long time ago.
Which is funny considering Rebornica's record.

I actually think callout blogs can be a good thing in some situations. Like if a blog was made that had a list of people who have straight-up admitted to pedophilia like our pal James, I'd get behind that. But usually it's just fandom wank or "we got in a fight on skype therefore they abused me".

Like this for example is a "callout blog" dedicated to people who hate a steven universe ship

I have yet to see a callout blog done correctly (livejournals artists-beware might be the closest, though I'm not sure I would put it in the same category). Collecting people's dumb mistakes and putting them on a tumblr blog isn't "protecting the community from sexists/racists/etc," it's just a kiwi farms thread.

I remember one from a while back called damnlayoffthebleach, and it was basically a blog sending their audience to attack small time artists who made coloring mistakes (one person even fixed their drawing as per their callout post, and still people were trying to one-up them. Unfortunately the blog has tried to cover up their tracks from those days, so it's all gone).

Ah yes, callout blogs. Yet another good thing tumblr took and turned to shit.

Wasn't there one about the Xkit guy too?

I love callout blogs in the same way I love watching cars crash.

It's interesting because you take a potentially valid concept (warning a particular community of a toxic influence in its midst) and screw it up on so many fronts. What I think is most interesting is you can get a bit of insight into the writer's priorities while reading any given callout. I remember seeing something written by a friend of a friend or somewhere thereabouts. There were valid points about the subject's frankly toxic personality, but sandwiched in there was an anecdote about how the person kicked the OP in their sleep while the two were sharing a bed, and it was presented like some Problematique™ event. I'll try and see if it's still up, it's good for a laugh.

Same with that one list of Users To Avoid or whatever that was going around a while back. You have a list of rapists and pedophiles ranked directly next to "doesn't triggerwarn," as though they're even in the same dimension of what makes a person good or bad. That, or you'll get a vague "this user is transmisogynistic," but don't you dare ask why. Just take OP's word for it, shitlord.

That's not even touching that most callouts are the result of relationships gone sour, a desire for petty and/or unfounded revenge, etc. That, and most of the people reblogging are a bit less interested in spreading the word of a dangerous individual than they are in watching someone get torn apart. And I mean shit, that's exactly why I'm on KF, but I'm not going to pretend it's coming from a place of virtue; I just like watching bad things happen to stupid people.

(livejournals artists-beware might be the closest, though I'm not sure I would put it in the same category).

Personally, I wouldn't. Artists-Beware is a 'buyer beware', BBB-esque service (for lack of a better term) for commissioners, and a warning sign for artists "Don't do this kind of shit if you want to be successful at commissions" or "if this person asks you to draw something for them, don't do it unless you want to be ripped off", that sort of thing. It's not a call-out blog in the slightest, at least, not in the Tumblr sense (i.e. documenting every single thing they do, right down to the shit they took this morning after waking up).

Taking a closer look at it, it appears that example may or may not be taking the piss. With SU fandom, much less Tumblr, I can never tell when Poe's Law is in effect or not anymore. :/

Callout posts/blogs are, quite frankly, usually always a) waaah this user said a mean word to me :((( or b) this person said or did this thing i disagree with, so attack them!

I've seen plenty in my time and they've been growing in "popularity" since around 2013. It would be pretty rare to see them back then, when tumblr was chill and saying slightly offensive shit was okay and was still funny.

I think my favourite one I've ever seen was someone trying to claim a youtuber sexually harassed them. Initially, they didn't name them, but I read it and was like "This just sounds like you're mad he didn't respond to your nudes :/" and when said youtuber was revealed I had a nice hearty laugh, but the user (I think they were theroguefeminist or some shit, so that just tells you something) was desperate to drag the guy's name through the dirt.

But that's just one example. I've seen actual, valid examples of disgusting abusers being called out - but I always make sure to actually read what happened. Besides, callout posts are usually really twisting the story in favour of the person who wrote it, to make them really seem like the victim, even if a friendship/relationship was equally toxic both ways.

I suppose it could be but it's been up for quite a while and it looks like they really do have hundreds of users blocked, so who knows.

And therein lies the main problem. A callout for someone who's a pedophile or a rapist is put on the same level as someone who posts mildly offensive shit. I think ideally a callout blog should post a proven pedo/rapist/abuser's name, archive links of evidence, and move on to the next person. Not getting caught in fandom wank or making multiple posts because someone used autistic as an insult.

Some "callouts" have led to exposure of popular bloggers who preyed on underage users (joshishollywood, revengeance, monetizeyourcat come to mind), and frankly those are the kinds that should get attention instead of "so-and-so is acephobic!! signal boost!!"

There seems to be a big shitstorm around Sixpencee, a blog dedicated to creepypasta and science posts. People have been accusing her of ableism (because she posted stories about violent mentally-ill people) stealing posts, and other menial shit. Apparently her rich Indian family also hires children 8-10 years old) for labor.

Call out blogs is just tumblr.com way of starting a mob. One person could say something that is 'offensive' by mistake or out of context and tumblr.com won't stop till they leave or killed themselves.
Hell they do this to artists that won't draw a certain way there was several call out post for artists because they won't follow tumblr.com art protocol (everything gotta be fat, poc, hairy, trans, gay, pastel colored UuU the only way to draw )

@Fiddleford Do have a good point but too bad tumblr can't tell the difference between an actual problem and having their presh feeling hurt.

Yeah, That was markiplier. There's actually another smaller callout post apparently for him again for being "ableist". Seriously, mark is one of the sweetest you tubers and you can see that. When it comes to callout blogs for Internet celebrities, or just celebrities in general, it's always because people idolize them and pretend they can do no wrong. It explains why their reactions are always so violent when they hear something they don't like from their dear idol.

I wondered if anyone would know, but a few months ago tumblr was screaming about how make up and dresses have no gender, but as soon as a prominent man wears 'em, hoo, it's like hunting season for them.

I've had the pleasure of being "called out" (I won't go into it cause :powerlevel: but there was no evidence at all cause I wasn't what they said I was ) and it was unsettling and rude. Tumblr kids are too quick to jump on the bandwagon of "Oh, I gotta look like I care so I'll reblog this without looking into it further" - but they're like that with anything. Claim that KFC murders babies without a backup and someone on tumblr will believe it.

Completely true. Slacktivism at its finest, honestly. I've gotten called out too, and it was only done as personal revenge against me by someone I know. It barely reached double digits before dying(cause it was weak evidence :powerlevel:)

Callout posts at times are actually informative and can be true. Considering that recent callout involving that tumblr user who stole human bones and how it ended up actually being true, when a callout post is right I'll give credit where credit's due. Most of the time they're garbage posts with absolutely shitty evidence for a non-existent problem (where the op makes up shit) or for such a small offense it's laughable. Unfortunately, I feel for those whose call out posts go viral and didn't do anything wrong. Any other time it would be laughable, but because tumblr has such a vehemently angry userbase, they'll continue to harass you until you stop posting on the site.

This is an interesting discussion, but I'm not 100% sure it belongs in a lolcow thread. Maybe it should be in Off-Topic?

Hotdiggedydemon got into some shit a while ago for generally acting like a chan-poster on Tumblr. The amount of jimmies he rustled could be felt by Jedi in other solar systems and there were numerous callout blogs about his transgressions against humanity via his Steven Universe "art."

I wager that if these people ever got linked to Shadbase (or any other edgelord pornographer) their eyes would melt out of their skulls.

I'm continually amazed by the way Tumblrites will continue to take obvious bait and get offended over things specifically created to offend them.

I recall the incident with that homestuck&steven universe fanartist named Paige or Zamii070. Numerous blogs were made against her to call out her past "offenses" that she'd since apologized for. She apparently was transphobic, racist, ableist, a pedophile apologist, etc etc because she didn't draw SU characters right or made blind jokes or cosplayed anime characters.

She tried to kill herself after a mass slurry of senseless hate and people mocking her.

Most of the blogs retreated and deleted, but there are some archiving what went on. Like right here.

Well, yes and no. She drew a commission for a pedophile (Griddles) and referred to him as a friend, which is why she was called a pedo apologist. When people told her about it, she made some vague tweet on her twitter along the lines of "why are people trying to tell me who I can and can't be friends with" although she claims that was about an unrelated incident. Everything came down afterwards was originally people picking at, mocking, criticizing her art which then turned into offended SJW's being like "WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DREW ROSE SKINNY HOW DARE SHE". And then everyone dug up every single ~problematic~ thing she's ever done.
