His mother is quite old and he has been working her recently. I wouldn't doubt him trying to get her for money or a place to stay. The family is watching out for her though, so they might get real strict with him moving forward if he does that.

Gene is the guy in white wearing a medal.
Looks like the kind of guy who served his community well, seeing as he was a former president of his local Rotary Club. Can't ever imagine Tom did anything good for any of the communities he was ever a part of.
