Yes, it's a big deal for many people; Cape Verde vs. Argentina had 2.7 billion viewers. But it's more like a religious ceremony; if you're not into World Cup soccer it will all seem kinda silly.

You guys have no idea how much VAR killed the south american dirty tactics to delay the game. If this was a pre-VAR era, it would be insane.

And even then Paraguay wasn't even the ones with the dirtiest tactics, it was always Uruguay and Argentina. There was uruguayan players fingering other asses mid game just to piss him off to cause a yellow or red card, literal punching or stepping on players when the ref wasn't looking. If you see all brawls in WC it usually involves teams deploying these tactics.

But Paraguay played quite fairly today.
