Just being sarcastic about Aston Martin getting lapped.
I don't know how much Bottas wants to drive. He turned down an Indycar opportunity already. If Cadillac can make it happen, it would be a win for them since they already have a successful hypercar program. It wasn't 2 weeks ago that everyone was saying Cadillac wants to fire him so who knows. I just assumed he was hired for his experience ass cheeks to give good feedback on a new car. Unless they can find real pace in the next 6 months, they should keep him for another season before bringing in a rookie. He's not as fast as Perez, but being competitive doesn't seem like it should be a high priority for them this season. Plus, they can always say they were faster than AM.
Herta does not currently have the super license points. He has 34. He needs 40.
From AI:
Colton Herta currently holds 34 FIA Super License points. Since drivers must accumulate 40 points over a three-year window to be eligible to race in Formula 1, he is just 6 points short. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Herta is currently competing in Formula 2 with the Cadillac F1 / Hitech team, where he serves as a test driver. He can secure the 6 points needed to reach the 40-point threshold through the following scenarios: [1, 2, 3, 4]
Top-8 Finish in F2: An outright top-eight placement in the Formula 2 drivers' championship grants the necessary points.
Lower Finish in F2 + FP1 Sessions: If he finishes 9th or lower in F2, he can make up the deficit by participating in FIA-sanctioned free practice sessions (FP1), which award 1 Super License point per session. [1, 2]
He is NOT going to finish Top 8. He is 15th with 20 points. 8th place has 47 points. So he needs 6 practice sessions. Can he get that many before end of 2026?
If he ends up in F1 in 2027 it will be a major joke. The only benefit is watching him fail miserably. There are so many other drivers who warrant that seat.
