With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

Leading up to S2.5 I said I wouldn't watch it because I'm tired of it being a lazy disaster. S2.5 has been pretty engaging and I have to eat my words, I've watched plenty of it and usually have it up on the side. There are some annoying faults but when it's good, it's great and the NPCs are surprisingly fun.

Some nice parts.
  • Director cam
  • Music on director cam
  • POV cams
  • Handheld cams, sometimes the camera work adds a lot
  • Some thought put into challenges
  • Frequent enough events/activities
  • Xavier
 
I think they really underestimated the challenges of having body cams for the contestants running for the entire show, it seems they've fallen back on having the main "director cam" and the stationary tree cams. Which I feel they should have probably just axed the body cams idea, put up more tree cams, particularly in the town area.
I'm actually impressed with how well the audio comes in from just the tree cams.
Another thing I feel would help with the flow of things is that when the group is in Basecamp at not at a scripted "Event", relax the role play rules, I don't think it would hurt if the gang can just chat amongst themselves about everyday things, don't have the trees yelling at them about FailRP every few minutes

Jimmy slinks up and takes a picture of her leaned forward with her chest out a bit using a disposable camera he brought from home?? He left the flash on of course. Brian breaks character for the first time to tell him 'you know what you gotta do' implying he should break the camera. It was so awkward.

I don't have the full clip either but earlier in the day he had referred to Taylor as "little red bouncy tits" because she reminded him of a porno he watched were a black guys fucks little red riding hood. Later when she was with him Taylor told him he should apologize to TJ. She had been wearing a tank top while she was boxing the last couple of days but now she switched to a baggy t shirt after what Jimmy said. Now Jimmy is trying to take pictures of everyone to look less creepy.
