I'm inclined to agree. At the moment he's just an annoying tranny that's bad at his job, there's not much else to run with.

They never shared XP, though. You had to level all of the classes if you wanted all of the skills (which meant leveling a bunch of classes without Byregot's Blessing, Hasty Touch, or Tricks of the Trade) the same way that you needed to level certain combat classes for specific skills (Provoke and Flash behind GLA).

Which brings up an idea (they'll never do it), but now that all the crafting classes are basically merged in (with GSM/ARM/BSM, WVR/LTW/CRP, MIN/BTN, and CUL/ALC) with skills and quests, why not merge the actual classes like that instead of having 2x or 3x the grind and filler? Like have GSM/ARM/BSM become "Metalsmith" (or something cooler), WVR/LTW/CRP "Naturesmith" (or something cooler), etc.
 
My biggest issue with DT’s msq is that it isn’t even bad in a cheesy “so bad it’s good” way where you can poke fun at it and laugh at like a campy b movie. It’s just bad in an extremely boring way which is the worst type of being awful.

I‘m enjoying the Arcadion raids and story lot more than the msq. The fights are also really fun. At least the dungeon and raid mechanics are great in DT, it’s been awhile since i last felt an actual challenge in that aspect.

You really aren’t wrong honestly. When I was researching for his thread I realized just how little material there is for him. He’s really no more than a gross AGP. Unless some Keffals-tier shit is found out about him, he’s not too interesting.

Stormblood was similarly fairly mediocre, but at least Zenos was fun.

Probably for legacy reasons. Believe it or not, they still support you logging into your old 1.X character and converting them to ARR. Class levels and everything were brought over.
Given how much they're a stickler for preserving old content (like guildhests), this is probably a major factor why ARR-tier stuff is so static or only changed very reluctantly.
 
I forgot to log in to do the halloween event, the first one I've missed since 2015. I think it's finally time to leave and let my house be demolished. Jump back in around the x.5 patch and catch up before the next expansion.

Ishikawa isn’t perfect but in my opinion she deserves all the praise and accolades for her success and contributions to the game. It’s really funny watching DT simps seething over her being successful while they’re defending Hiroi, a writer whose biggest reputation to the game is tanking its msq. I’d be more lenient on the guy if he had a past history of decent writing and DT was just a case of growing pains but with the exception of the Pandaemonium raids all quests he has written are just joyless and not fun.

That makes sense - I just mean in the larger sense that they no longer support crafters in the same way. There aren't Armorsmith class quests or skills anymore, for example. Each crafter is literally identical except for mainhand/offhand.

When SHB collapsed "Job Quests" into "Role Quests" - all of the jobs still felt different and had an identity though playstyles; feels like they didn't think that through for crafters.

For Legacy reasons, they could just have your highest level in the old class become the level of the new class or even just linking the classes until SHB and then doing the unification then would be plausable.
 
Also it was recently revealed that Ishikawa was responsible for having Soken create Smile and now DT defenders are using this to blame her for DT’s shitty writing. Pointing out that the writing quality of the msq plummeted when Hiroi took the reins post EW is not stanning her.
 
Now that chain blocking is pointless (except replies and retweets are chain blocked) to gaming journalists like Jason Schreier... what does staying in line has to do with Final Fantasy XIV?

I think you're only in the minority because of how few FF11 vets there are versus modbeasts in the population. We recognize the significance of the armor sets, and I want all of them for glams, but the rest of the people just see generic black armor.

I guess that's what I don't get about modding the fuck out of your client. It cheapens the entire game; If you can just fake whatever appearance you like, why do anything?

Collecting new and better gear from raids, PVP, etc so you don't look like a scrub is 80% of what you do in an mmo.

I've written a couple small mods, sure, like adding more detailed textures to my carbuncle/summons so they look neat, but it seems like everyone else is replacing their entire fucking game with gay ERP crap and I just can't imagine it being any real fun. Why try to accomplish anything when you can just automatically look cool for your faggy friends?

Because you still need precious e-clout for having cleared the big boy, big dick hardest of hardcore content so everyone can know how awesome you are.
