This has to be satire. Nobody is this stupid.
Also, I found this little gem
The birds here have believed that their island is the whole world, and that there are no other creatures, but when a shipload of pigs arrive — like an alien spaceship out of the ocean blue — Red is instantly suspicious of them. He’s furious, in fact, that everyone else is being so nice and kind and welcoming to the pigs. In the real world, of course, Red would be seen as delusional, and the pigs would have no nefarious motives, because they’d know that that doesn’t get you anywhere, and would ruin a relationship before it even began.
Gee, it's not like a boatload of strange foreigners contacting an isolated group has ever had any adverse effects...

...Did Jay Geis get a gender change and become a critic?

In the comments the writer makes it clear that it's supposed to be satire of the way men discuss movies made by women... only it doesn't work since it just looks like your average Jezebel piece

I get the feeling she expected to drum up male tears, but few were going to come out to blindly defend a franchise that's primarily got 12 year olds and other women for its primary demographic. Johanson fails at baiting. Better luck when Assassin's Creed hits theaters or something.

Like maybe she didn't realize that gamers don't like video game films and even diehard fans rarely defend them.
