Hooves's mother knows that Hooves isn't fucking Puerto Rican, seeing as she was once married to Angelo "I Am Not Puerto Rican In Any Way" Delici.

Also, if I were any member of Hooves's family, name changes would thrill me, since it would make it less likely I'd be associated with that waste of oxygen.

Implausible reaction aside, i think its hilarious when the like of chris and phil come out with what they imagine other people would say. I presume its the tism that makes them sound like a badly translated children's cartoon?

It probably plays a role (this reminds me of the "interviews" in Sonichu's News Dash), but, in this case, I think it's being stupid, in addition to just being a shitty writer.

I don't see why it's so unbelievable that the maternal bond can be strong enough to allow for some desire of reconnecting with one's child. Even if that child is Hooves. I have to imagine's totally exaggerating the extent of it.

But fuck it sucks having to doubt the unconditional love of a parent when its such an unreliable source.
 
It sounds quite a lot like this is something she said to get her abuser off the damn phone (if such a conversation took place at all).

I thought people were "coming out" to their parents about being gay, transgender or something similar. Apparently Phil believes that revealing a legal name change of your middle name also counts as "coming out"
 
I imagine if it happened it was like a mother with a toddler when it is rambling on about nonsense she said a lot of "that's nice honey" or "yes honey you are a trans Latina you can be anything you want when you grow up" type of thing.

I'm dubious that this mom call even happened. ADF likes to dictate other people's reactions to things, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's just saying what he's sure she'd say if he actually talked to her. It seems a lot more likely to me that he's so arrogant as to expect her to just take him back if he shows up on her front porch.

If it did... ADF has confessed to abusing his mother. I wouldn't be surprised if she played along with whatever he said just to placate him, in the hopes that if she doesn't resist, he'll just move along eventually.

Why'd Phil have to choose Puerto Rican? I don't follow Phil that closely, but after discovering the maps yesterday, I'm all in. I'm assuming he picked this up in Oakland, which is more of a Chicano kind of town. Less than Los Angeles, but not anywhere near close to Miami or New York for Puerto Ricans, Cubans and Dominicans. Personally, I'm very fond of Latino culture (Puerto Rico in particular) due to some relationships and appropriating it for myself would be just a blindingly ignorant thing to do. Phil's a little mama bicho, it's mortifyingly hilarious.
