From what I can see, it depends on the item. Generally speaking, though, it seems processed food is much cheaper in the US than the UK.They must be spending thousands a month on food, how do they afford it? Is food that much cheaper in America?

As an example, let's break out the ol' "Random town generator" and pretend Otterly and NoReturn are on a road trip in the US. I generate a random place, I get Mayfield, OH. If we drive in on 271, there's a Starbucks less than .5km from the highway. Which means you could get 450 liquid calories for $7 without even leaving your vehicle.
