I don't particularly envy them for their recklessness, while it's likely they'll never face any negative consequences for what they say about Amber, there really is no reason to attach that to your real identity, you simply don't know where you'll be in 10 or 15 years and it's better if there is no definitive proof you're a wrong thinker.
