Eugenics, can we have a serious conversation, in this day, in this age?

I was shopping around in the armed forces when I was younger they (the Marines) thought my 95 ASVAB was pointless.

Incidentally, I'm blown away a drunk post I made years ago is still running.
It's not running. No one had posted anything in over a year here. Start necroing. Also, honest to God eugenics is evil. I'm not saying that I want there to be more disabled people nor am I saying that I don't want to see humanity improve as a whole. But there is no ethical way for humans to enact eugenics.

Many Autistic people (for example) have non autistic parents. Chris Chan had two neurologically normal parents and that is hardly usual.

This makes the use of Eugenic's to get rid of Autism and many of its cousin conditions (think fragile x ect.) impossible. Many of these conditions aren't even genetic, not entirely, no one knows what brings them on and why a doctor-lawyer couple can produce a severely Autistic, mentally retarded kid.

Well I mean you could kind of see where Chris Chan's problems came from. He was born to very old parents and as you get older your gametes become more corrupted. Iirc there is a genuine correlation between the age of the mother and how likely the child is to have developmental issues.

No more ethical than forcing society to deal with your tard babies.

Imagine all the weirdass varieties of humans there could be if people committed to autistically "refining" their lineages like we do with dogs. It could be like those All Tomorrows books where the future humans barely resemble us anymore.

All culture is passive eugenics anyways. If we return to a somewhat conservative sexual culture, I actually think things will be fine.
People with good genes will have slightly more descendants and those genes will become more common.
No one innocent needs to be executed or neutered, really.

The only politically acceptable way to get eugenics going is paying people to sterilize themselves. If you're above 20-25 you get a lump sum of money to sterilize yourself. It would remove people with a high time preference. Any billionaire could do it tomorrow.
