Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated star of “Juno” and Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” has announced he is transgender.

Elliot, formerly known as Ellen Page, addressed his social media followers saying:

“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society,” he wrote.

“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive. To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better,” Page continued.
Page uses both he/him and they/them pronouns, and describes himself as transgender and non-binary, meaning that his gender identity is neither man nor woman.
Nick Adams, GLAAD’s Director of Transgender Media, said “Elliot Page has given us fantastic characters on-screen, and has been an outspoken advocate for all LGBTQ people. He will now be an inspiration to countless trans and non-binary people. All transgender people deserve the chance to be ourselves and to be accepted for who we are. We celebrate the remarkable Elliot Page today.”
Page broke out from his native Canada in 2005 with the revenge thriller “Hard Candy.” Two years later, he starred in Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody’s landmark indie “Juno,” for which Page received an Academy Award nomination among other accolades.
HIs notable roles include Kitty Pryde in the “X-Men” series, Christopher Nolan’s “Inception,” “Whip It!” and Sony’s reboot of “Flatliners.” He has produced and starred in films such as “Tallulah” and “Freeheld,” and last year marked his directorial debut examining environmental racism faced by people of color and the First Nations communities of Canada.
Prior to transition, Page was one of the most visible out gay actors in Hollywood. The Tuesday announcement further enriches his legacy, and adds him to a small but growing number of out trans creators and stars in Hollywood. This includes performers (Laverne Cox, Trace Lysette, Brian Michael Smith) and creators (The Wachowski Sisters, “Transparent” creator Joey Soloway).
Last year, Variety broke the news of the groundbreaking overall content production deal that Netflix signed with Janet Mock, a noted trans storyteller and director of shows like “Pose” and “Hollywood.”

So I don't get why these people keep poking and prodding like this.
Because fighting over dumb shit nobody cares about and pushing social norms is so ingrained with queer culture they can't stop or they will lose their collective identity.

It's that whole Marxist permanent revolution thing. You could give them every single thing they want and they will just redefine society so they can still be mad to continue "the struggle against oppressors". That's basically what happened after Gay Marriage. They went intersectional for a bit to divine what the new cause should be, consulted the progressive stack, swapped around some language, and settled on this Trans Rights deal.

I was hoping she changed her name to Alan so that I could make a joke about anal but no... Elliot.

How is he "queer" if he's a totes really real dude named Elliot now, and he's having sex with a female?

How does queerness factor into the equation of a dude having sex with a chick?

If we're supposed to except that Elliot is a genuine man now, then having sex with a female makes him a wealthy white hetorsexual male AKA Satan incarnate.

Seems like these freaks collectively started to call themselves "queer" specifically to cover anything and everything they do for attention and kudos. "Gay" is now too limiting and not very special, but "queer" is like "climate change": nebulous and all-encompassing and ever-changing.

Does this make her a 'her' again? lol

If someone didn't know who she was, they might think that

“I love that I am normal. And I love that I am straight, And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive. To all the normal people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better,” Page continued.

Also, after the boys season 1 came out I figured what the fuck was the point of the umbrella academy. After the boys season 2 came out, I figured what the fuck was the point of rewriting shows to fit today's narrative rather than the source material.

The Genderspecial Olympics is nothing but an asspats competition for the sexually retarded,

I've seen a lot of people screeching at lesbians on Twitter or whatever who show any kind of sadness about losing a lesbian celebrity, possibly even one that helped them realize they were lesbians to begin with. Tweets of "You didn't 'lose' anything, he was always a man, die mad". The whole "wooaaah, you jerked it to a trans person, looks like your sexuality isn't what you think" thing comes across as a lot less "progressive" when you're telling lesbians that, because a famous lesbian actress put her hair under her hat and changed her name, that makes them straight now.

This kind of thing doesn't make me MATI anymore, just sad. It takes a lot to come out as a lesbian in an industry like that. Every lesbian that other lesbians have to look up to is slowly going nonbinary or trans, and I hope it doesn't end up destroying a whole subset of women and defining "woman" so strictly as "straight, flower-print-wearing housewife".
It's already getting to that point, at least in woke/nerd/etc circles. "Woman" either means a strict 50s housewife stereotype or someone born with a penis, anything outside of that (like a vast majority of women in existence) is some flavor of trans or NB. Tomboy? No, you're actually a trans man. Lesbian? Same thing. Straight weeb girl? Totally actually a kawaii nb pastel uke soft transboi in a gay relationship with her (straight, cis)boyfriend.

I'm probably one of the more pro-trans Kiwis out there in that I do think there are some legit trans people out there i.e. people who have dysphoria. However in Current Year I think most people hopping on the trans bandwagon probably aren't and the pressure being put on girls and women to transition is pretty concerning.

Identity politics so woke it's actively misogynistic :(

"So...she wants to be a white male, the single most hated, humiliated and targeted group in America?

She really IS nuts."

Note : This was a comment I saw somewhere else regarding this piece of news that I thought I would share.

It's ridiculous that "she" announces this and soon after her IMDB and Wikipedia entries are edited within the hour to reflect the new reality. If you go to the IMDB cast page for Inception, for example, it has a carefully androgynous picture of Elliot Page and the note that she was credited "as Ellen Page". We have always been at war with Eastasia, Elliot Page has always been a man.

Beyond: Two Genders

So Juno done trooned out, call me on my hotdog phone!

It's a shame, she was pretty cute back in the day, we've been on a sharp, steep decline since the 2000s.

Also Hard Candy depicted her generation as being psychos underneath the surface, turned out to be pretty accurate I'd say.
