There’s also the question of Goku really intended to kill him with it or did it to show Gohan what Cell is capable of since he was convinced he couldn’t win before the fight even started

The Warp Kamehameha and Cell turning into legs is very much from the manga.

Nah, Goku didn't think winning was likely but he still gave it his best shot, the Warp Kamehameha was basically Goku's trump card and when that didn't work he fought a tiny bit more, realized just how much energy Cell had left, and just gave up. You don't usually blow your opponents entire upper top off and then think that's not a winning move. Goku was keeping it under wraps because he didn't want Cell to be wary of the full power kamehameha he could teleport to hit Cell with. He even says he thought that he won for a moment after Cell regens.
 
The Warp Kamehameha is probably still one of the coolest moments in the series. It's the only time Goku even attempts to convince people he's having a melty and it worked so well even Geets was convinced. It's also one of the most brutal moments too, don't often see people in the series actually get blown apart like that. Even if Cell is a bugman that's a pretty brutal panel/scene.

Shame it's one of those moves they've never really been able to do well in the games.
 
Yeah, Goku doesn't kill as often now, but he is willing to kill if he sees no other alternative, even for strong enemies

.....Until they decided Goku (and Gogeta) are retards who let Freeza go twice, even after learning he won't just stay down, and no amount of "I broke your pride" matters for a psycho like him.

Now, for Toyotaro to find a way to beat Black Freeza before he becomes Rainbow Freeza

Fast forward to GT where when seeing that Shoulders 17 can absorb his Kamehameha, references 19, then shoots another one at him. Because he's retarded.
 
I'd kill for a new Legacy of Goku game. Ideally in style that Buu's Fury was going, where they were leaning way harder on the RPG aspects. Could be like an Octopath Traveler but DragonBall, basically. Actually I think I just want an Octopath DragonBall RPG.
