...That's weird..!!

Yeah - I mean honestly CBT and DBT aren't that difficult to learn and are often useful in treatment - the diagnostic course that MSWs take is often laughably bad. I think systems theory is helpful for social workers that are doing case management work... I don't see how that can morph into instagram pop psychology... I see that more as a bastardization of stuff like CBT and SFBT because of their features of "perspective change" versus the ecological framework's features of "structural change." In any case, bella being a spawn of a gypsy and a glowie and raised by a shill... it really gives credit to the ecological framework...!
I've found that many non clincal psychologists don't learn DBT/CBT because its extra training and certifications that tend to require some psychological knowledge. The EMDR fad though they seem to quite enjoy attempting...

Psychology is strange it has way more specializations that all mean differnt training, etc. but they end up working in the same type of jobs. You have clinical psychologists, LCSWS, MSWs, LPCs, BCBAs, RBTs, etc. Some get psychological training some do not.
Two paths to the same professional position but have different names because a Ph.D. is more traditional and follows the Boulder model, which is a 20th century standard which argues that both research and practice is necessary for a person to be a practitioner, while a Psy.D. is a more modern (note: not necessarily better in any way, and in some ways more limited) approach to becoming a practitioner by studying mostly practical elements and not doing much research.
Practice was not required for my PHD, a published research paper and a ton of course work in all areas of psychology though was.

Are you a practitioner?

How would you treat Bella, if she was your patient (or you were writing a treatment paper or etc)? Can she be fixed?
Sociopaths are never going to show up at someone's practice for help. Major part of coming to therapy is that someone feels distress due to their mental issues and sociopaths see no wrong in their behavior. They may know its wrong, but they care more about getting caught then any feelings of guilt.

It's also a personality disorder which means that its not something that can really be changed and on top of that they are highly manipulative and charismatic. And they have to admit they have issues to be treated. CBT is the only real thing used with them and even then you can't teach someone empathy that neurologically is incapable of feeling it. There are some interesting studies on brain scans of sociopaths that show their brains are not wired to view people/animals, etc. the same way we do.

I dont want to think of anyone as unfixable, but I do beleive there are lines that when crossed limit the amount someone can accept help and i do beleive she has crossed those lines.

This interview was incredibly engrossing to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdPMUX8_8Ms
The guy is a virtuous sociopath, he does things like warns people that he has sociopathy when he meets them. Really neat interview.
Could Bella get to this sort of end state, of being an 'out' sociopath who warns people, and is aware on an abstract level of right and wrong?

(is there something wrong with me that I find sociopathy and sociopaths utterly fascinating?)

Yeah, probably.

I think what's really wrong is that this Mary Beth thread is being derailed by bella diagnosis and treatment plan - she does have her own thread.

SBSK is a semi scripted interview show so I would not put much weight on him actually doing that as he says.

And socialpaths know right from wrong they just do not care if what they do is wrong if it benefits them.

Nah many people find sociopaths interesting.

Will say though to bring this back on topic there is no reason Mary Beth does not realize what her daughter is and what she is capable of.

She is completely aware of that, and if anything she's proud of it. In the early days of damage control Bella boasted about her "high dark triad score" in the replies of the "Hamster found in dumpster" video on youtube.

Also this reddit post on the "nobodysbusiness77897" account shows that Bella was aware and proud of her sociopathy as early as the April of 2019 (age 17).

Thank you for these images / links, I hadn't seen them!
She is such a bad, bad girl.

What causes sociopathy? In your professional opinions, does Mary Beth have any ability to create or reduce sociopathy in her step daughter? Can it be induced (not to imply that Mary Beth did anything)?

Why do sociopaths hurt animals and people? This whole thing would be funnier if Bella didn't hurt animals and people.
