Give it 10 years, the talent is still out there and presumably they'll keep working on games.

It sucks we won't get an sp Quake reboot, but if the talent can go elsewhere and make some sp fps games that aren't all troonslop I'll be happy.
The guys getting fired had nothing to do with Quake.

we're never getting another Quake are we
All of the Quake and Unreal (Tournament) games still hold up today. At this point the industry doesn't really have the talent to make another high end single player shooter with an arena multiplayer mode. Just be glad you can enjoy the classics and keep your old systems and installers intact.

Sucks to see a company go down like this. I was never a veteran DOOM fan or anything, but I liked the newer ones and even with their flaws they were still a good time. Hope the talent can land on their feet.

"id" is just a label slapped on a Bethesda division full of hired guns who were resurrecting a dead IP. Nothing stopping Bethesda from doing that again.

They are absolute bastards, lol.

Unlike the regular Viles who summon a collection of weaker Heavy variants and have gaps in their defense abilities, the armoured ones will pump out a continuous flurry of fire Imps: they're replaced almost as quickly as you can kill them. Their abilities don't have exploitable gaps either: the shield spews out circular fire, and the bladed projectiles turn into enormous anchors.

This is on top of the Eternal ability they had, summoning fire directly beneath you. Their armour also cools off when they teleport away, which they do a lot because of course.

Pain Elementals are absolutely harmless by comparison.

Evolution of the studio

Quake (1996) - I'm the king of the world!

Quake III (1999) - Trouble in paradise?

Doom 3 (2004) - You've lost that lovin' feelin'

Rage (2011) - His smile and his optimism...gone!

Doom (2016) - Van Hagar

Doom Eternal (2020) - Van Cherone

Doom: The Dark Ages (2025) - Van Halen Cover Band in the Style of Blink-182

I've repeatedly said I liked Doom 2016, so I can only assume anybody insinuating that I think it's a bad game is either dishonest or stupid.

You wouldn't by chance have the codex's that go into his early backstory would you? It's the one thing I'm curious about in this game, for better or worse.

Here, managed to fit it all on one image.
edit: can't insert just a thumbnail for some reason.
