I'd go to Japan to toss their traditional dishes on the ground. Like the icky stuff, be like "ewww this has tentacles" and let it splat on the ground. I think the cultural enrichment I could provide to the the Japanese would help them realize how to act civilized. Discarding of all my waste publicly would be the only service I provide for free though. If they wanted a more comprehensive cultural experience like relieving myself on incapacitated salary men I'd need some down payment.

'Tokyo Vice' is completely made up. The guy who wrote it worked as a lowly office drone/pet gaijin for a newspaper, then wrote a book about how he was this cool gumshoe investigative journalist exposing the Yakuza. Just nonsense taken from the Japanese gutter press.

well yeah but I do tend to give the dude props for making a convincing and marketable larp. that in itself is a good skill to have as a journo even if it makes you a deplorable amoral person, which imo is inherent to the field of journalism.
he did absorb enough info watching court cases to put together a convincing larp and eventually sell his story to the (((global media apparatus))).

there probably isn't much of a future for some low-level journo in japan(or really any foreigner in asia period - you either do white monkey jobs or you larp your way into benefitting from nepotism), and larping about knowing gangbangers technically isn't illegal, so i sorta get why he did it.

Pretty much any journo in Japan is turbo fucked, regardless of origin, either play by the rules of corpos or suffer having your life destroyed because any scoop on the wrong target will be treated as going against the country itself.
