I have some older retired relatives who are hooked on AI shit and just binge it for hours and hours each day, day after day nonstop. Its honestly kind of disturbing. One of them can tell apart the obvious fakes but might believe some of the more subtle ones. The other seems to think some of the ones even with the obvious animated fake AI sheen are real.

None of the children I know, whether they be nearly babies or older, even if they do consume some AI slop seem to be affected anywhere near as much as older folks.

Everybody is banging on about the threat of the internet to little kids and the need for age verification and deepfakes on twitter and meanwhile in the corner here we have tons and tons of senior citizens just vegging out to Youtube AI slop drip feed like a bad fentanyl habit unnoticed or even worse actively getting scammed. And hardly a peep about it. Just goes to show how screwed up the public spotlight is.

Yeah, older people I know, who are on the psychologically frail side, spend hours doomscrolling intagram not knowing than more than half the shit they are watching is ai slop. I look at them like this.

Even before AI, I know some are watching those awful text-to-speech clickbait videos made by Third Worlders for ad revenue. Now that it is possible to do convincing voice over through AI, the problem will become even worse.

I visited my parents recently and my dad says he realizes that the Youtube and Twitter algorithms are full of AI slop but continues to watch lots of it anyway and praises/criticizes the contents as if they were created by a person.

He's only in his early 60s, so it's not like he's senile and losing touch with reality. I really don't get it.

The old are almost unable to discern fakeness, mostly because TV fucked them up.

The young have no concept of fakeness, because it's a human concept and they're niggers.

the history of the medium of television is kind of important here because it was invented in like 1925 but never really took off until 1945 because you have to have people doing the show live in the studio. tape didn't get invented until the 60's so the entire original run of television was that people had access to 3-12 channels that were ENTIRELY LIVE ON THE AIR and this paradigm was pretty much how people expected television to work until cable happened, in which case TV changed to be 200 lines of pre-recorded gobbedygook running on a loop.

the boomers were fucking ensorcelled by the tv because it was REALLY HAPPENING RIGHT THERE RIGHT NOW

I feel fucking retarded in dealing with AI. I've used so many primitive versions of it that I still search like "cat chocolate death" instead of "will two licks of chocolate kill a grown cat?". I was about to send a mail to the wagie-cagie department asking about some PTO related shit. I jokingly put it into copilot and it literally pulled all the information from my own public sector's website and specifically described it in my case. Might've been wrong, sure, but so could the retard on the end of the mailbox. And they often are.

You can care about more than one thing at the same time. Personally I'm more concerned about kids consuming AI slop because their lives haven't even begun yet.

there's an old werner herzog quote where he talks about an old movie that reused a clip of a guy getting shot twice in the movie.

he bought it up to his friends and they couldnt understand that it was reused like they thought it was two different people actually getting shot

So people do start losing their minds in their 60's. Happened to my father. It came on very slowely so no one caught it for decades, partially my fathers fault for refusing to see doctors until he was too incapacitated to put up his usual fight. Now he will forget that I drove him to the doctors and tells the doc he drove alone, which freaked the doc out at first but now the front ladies let him know who is waiting for my father. He still claims that he drives there alone, even when I'm sitting next to him. Dementia is wild.

My mom is addicted to watching AI generated end times prophecy content like whatever the fuck this is
I'm not religious myself so I have no idea if any of this shit can even be backed up by the Bible.
My dad doesn't consume AI outside of political memes he sees while doomscrolling on Facebook on a daily basis. To be honest, I think this shit is an early sign of dementia.

At a glance, it looks like a lot of American dispensationalist trash mixed in doomsaying about the end of the world. Christians have, unfortunately, been doing the latter for a long time when no man knows the day or the hour. How can boomers even stand this ugly shit? Half of these videos are rehashes of other videos.

My mom only started watching this shit within the past 2 years, she used to be the type to go to church every Sunday and Wednesday, was friends with everyone in the church, and rapidly transformed into a hermit that watches AI slop on a daily basis.
