I don't know about the massage ball, but I use the small one of these: Chirp Wheel on Amazon
The smaller one is good for high pressure, and the bigger one is good for "broad" pressure that isn't as direct.
It works super good and fixes my body pain all the time - I'm pretty sure I have fibromyalgia (not confirmed), and the wheel saves me constantly.

Yeah when my back is sore you massaging my balls would really help.

Problem with that is that what follows often makes it sore again, along with the hips.
