Maybe his bogged wife wont let him cast any actresses in lead roles that she thinks are "prettier" than her? Could explain mid-Lois and troll-esque supergirl.

My guess is that Hollywood asked him to put more girlbosses if he wanted a career after his tweets came to light
One of the few things I did like about MAWS is he wasn't invincible.
Not exactly the account your child should check out in order to get the news on the latest movies.Incidentally I went ahead to confirm it and I found Gunn actually wrote this post :"The 50 Superheroes You Most Want to Have Sex With: 2nd Annual Poll results."
He used to be so unhinged he actually put most of "the chuds" and critics like Nerdrotic to shame. Or even many of us.
It's impossible not to see Supergirl as either being forced to it like you said or a shallow attempt to save his reputation after those tweets by going with a homely girl boss approach.
There seems to be an unspoken rule that only women are allowed to write and direct female lead superhero movies. I haven't bothered to check the exceptions, but I can't help but notice leads seem to immediately give them up and delegate them to women. Like a hot potatoe.
I suspect they do it because of Hollywood politics. Would look bad if the "empowering" female character movie was made by a guy.
While I do get it's a hard position to be in, I don't get why they keep hiring women that just aren't qualified for it. Surely even Lauren Faust would had been a better choose for a writer.
Both the Elektra and Catwoman movies were written and directed by men. Granted that was back before superhero movies became very popular and neither were well-received.Battle Angel (who may or may not have a name, not unlike how John Carter may or may not have a planet) was the Spy Kids guy, Gally is at least 70% cape

Good enough if you consider people being burned out by the MCU. Not perfect but still successful and liked.Wyświetl załącznik 9210648
Made less than the previous one with a higher budget.
Was it successful though? Did the audience watch it? Shouldn't we be the ones to decide this?Wyświetl załącznik 9210730
Supergirl proved superhero fatigue isn’t real by being something cool and original.
Visually yes.Perhaps but it was well received.
I miss Zack Snyder, When Zack Snyder made a movie, it was at least interesting. He could make a disaster and at least it was fun to talk about it.We're also more able to take criticism. If someone tells me Snyder uses too much blue in his palette and his films need more lighter moments, I will say: "Yes." I still like a lot about them though. And when the fucking Harley Quinn cartoon in all its obnoxiousness tried to directly mock Snyder fans,

the response was largely amicable amusement.
I feel this classic remains relevant:Like I said I didn't bother to check the exceptions because it was as a broad generalisation to make another point entirely.
I am not playing the trivia game, but rather pointing out that modern day politics seem to be forcing their hands. If anything Elektra and Catwoman confirm my point because Elektra and Catwoman both predate the current political environment.
The point is that I suspect they are avoiding having men do female superheroes because it looks bad in the current year not that men have never done female super heroes movies ever.

Geek culture journalists and DC Comics writers are openly trying to bury the story of Andrew Farago being arrested for admitting to filming children in the bathroom. What a shock that Anthony Gramuglia was streaming with Andrew Farago a week before he was arrested. He is butt buddies with other breadtubers besides Anthony Gramuglia.
It is pretty sad this will not be replicated due to the oversight these days, newer artists being wholly uninterested in it etc. I swear there must have been a "tone down the sex appeal" memo sent out to all of them sometime post 2000.Point of reference the comic cover

Secondly the whole issue was one long extended 1990s shitpost. Doing everything then that couldn't have been done in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s by DC and Marvel.
I have seen this in other movies (not just capeshit but others), which makes me wonder if this is all done by the directors because they are disgusted by "sex appeal" or because of some arbitrary nepotism? This happened as well witht he female co-villains in the new superman movie as well, so this is a broad recurring issue. It is extra odd that each reboot of supergirl gets less attractive.
