Not to victim blame, but the situation is at least partially Dave's parents' fault. They enabled his behaviour for years before he got too out of control, and even when it finally got to court they still didn't go as hard as they could/should have.

As we learned from Rob Reiner, it's hard for a parent to cut off even the worst failchild, but the longer you indulge them the more things are going to escalate because they take your capitulation as a sign of weakness.

I hope their extension request is granted and they can keep Dave out of their life for good, or at least long enough for him to freeze to death sleeping rough on the streets.

When he whimpered about needing shelter to recover from surgery, they rented him their basement. The couch-shouting incident Dave likes to recount may well have been Dr. Joe telling him to get back down to where he belonged.

Dr. Joe policed Dave's post-surgical meds use to Dave's wailing outrage.

As that post-surgical adventure came to an end, Dave was OUT and the Drs. Muscato did not give him the comfy, caring re-housing he demanded.

They've since refused to give him go-away money, which was what led to his public shaming campaign and face-to-face harassment of them - trying to break their will, which did not break.

No one can discipline the mental illness out of someone else. You can be consistent and firm to curb the worst behavior, but the crazy continues.

They cooperated with the police, both about the harassment and the theft. They testified publicly in court against him and were deposed two or three times before that. They didn't ask the judge to let Dave off easy.

Under the law, they have no authority over their adult son. They can't institutionalize him as some here like to fantasize. That's not how the law works and there are very few beds in scarce psychiatric residential programs.

He'd have to be psychotic or suicidal to be admitted and would be released as soon as his symptoms seemed to abate rather than set to basket weaving for life in the dayroom.

And so? Dave's an outpatient under court order who converts his dim therapists into handmaidens. He's a lot better at that than he is at the bass and, frankly, that's why I find him interesting.

Out of all the low-effort, grifting tranny sideshow freaks on this site that I can bear to stomach, Dave tops or near-tops my list as the most repugnant and irredeemably awful one among them. But we saw plenty of evidence that they did rent him the basement planning to limit his stay, they did drive him out of there, Joe did restrict Dave's use of addictive drugs, Joe and Mary did have the police arrest him and then testified against him on two criminal matters, they have sought and renewed court orders to keep him away from them, and so on.

Suing Dave for libel? So they're out of pocket for a case that will net nothing because Dave has nothing to net. Dave goes on defaming them. And?

The courts are not the universal parent who can magically make cows stop cowing. See, for instance, Russell Greer. Also Tommy Tooter.

The only thing that can cause a true lolcow such as Dave to cease and desist from their defining, pathological behavior is God's mistake being undone (e.g., Dave being discovered having been given a makeover by Fuzz Face after he gracelessly expired on an apartment couch he was "house sitting" for the sake of having a place to publish libel about his family until he once again outstayed his welcome without ever having made basic efforts to secure subsequent housing).

Cows can neither be rehabilitated nor coerced into longterm compliance in meeting basic expectations of civilization - They exist to inflict themselves upon anyone they can sniff out as a victim, and to whatever extent they convince themselves they can get away with, until they're effectively swept off the board due to a coronary event, overdose, or the avoidable outcome of having plied their trade with the wrong person. I seem to recall (I may be wrong) that Dave was talking to/dating a 14 y.o. girl when he was 18 or something. Given that before he was balding and trooning out he almost resembled a member of the human race, had a guitar and so on, I could see a weak, vulnerable girl going for it.
