That's also the full extent of it, because Phil is such a boring person who didn't care about Leanna to begin with, he just wanted her around as a trophy to show off to his viewers be it trolls/detractors/haters/critics or genuine fans.
His problem is that he doesn't want to work for his money. That's the sole reason he ever had any aspirations of recording himself playing video games for a living, it's the lowest effort he could think of for the highest reward he could imagine. Even today, he doesn't regret making this decision, he just hates that it came with downsides, because he doesn't have a realistic sense of how the world works, and doesn't want to either.
Spoony at his height was way more likeable/popular than Dave though. Coulda just coasted on his success for years, but nope. Just had to stop working and blame "muh dupreshun".
