they're actually fairly intelligent and an African startup is training them to be able to detect landmines since they're cheaper to train than regular dogs, there's also some trials to see if they can be used to detect tuberculosis by smell

rats from africa detect bombs, meanwhile the rat in my house was stupid enough to fall for the mousetrap with peanutbutter in it
