Saw this on Instagram. Of course they cherry pick and leave out important details like the fact that many of the countries before intervention happened were wrought with human rights violations. Albania's leader Enver Hoxha (who was a communist and socialist) during the majority of its Communist Regime was a horrendously cruel dictator and human rights abuser.

TL;DR: Communism/socialism doesn't work because of other people's fault, not of the system itself.

I'm not entirely convinced that it'll pan out in the long run. I mean, if you're relying on most of your line employees to make an educated decision on how to expand the business, it'll be hard to reach a consensus.

Most coops go to shit because talented workers see they have to work harder because other workers dont do shit but arent fired because "solidarity"

Then you have the other workers who start stealing from the coop and again dont get fired because solidarity and "keeping the coop together" but eventually the coop goes bankrupt because the stealing got out of control, this also happened a lot in socialist countries where a lot of stuff in the black market was simply stolen from coops and state companies, same reason why you had to wait 10 years for a fucking car: your fellow workers were stealing all the fucking parts, sometimes even entire cars

There are so many wealthy and successful worker coops that your anecdotes are insignificant. If you want proof that a coop can work on a large scale look at the Mondragon corporation, one of the biggest companies in Spain. They employ ~85k people and have produced something $12 billion in profit in 2015.

If you're so sure give me an example. All coops I know (and there are thousands across the entire world) are decentralized and democratic.

And at the end of this all you haven't actually an argument against worker coops, you have just said that they can't work. If worker coops reduced total productivity but raised total happiness then it would be worth it to prefer coops over capitalist businesses. After all, I'm not concerned with how much money I can make I'm concerned with human happiness.

Edeka is pretty big and a very remarkable beast... its a supermarket franchise owned by the shop owners.
