Many of us have racked our brains trying to figure out what the hell happened to Ya boi Zach.
* Maybe he got a liberal girlfriend.
* Maybe he to behind on taxes and spent the money he was supposed to spend on manufacturing & shipping the comics.
* Maybe he was always this way, and it was just a grift to rip people off.
* Maybe people not loving the movie "Mad Max: Furiosa" broke Zach.
But today I watch this clip. (14 minute 30 second mark)
Some of the biggest critics of movies have been offered "big money" including Nerdorotic, AZ & Mauler, and "the amount of money we have walked away from is sickening."
What if Zach was just offered a huge paycheck. Or series of pay checks. That would certainly explain his abrupt heel turn, and absolute venom he now has the the audience that is calling him out and will no longer buy his comics, and are asking for refunds.
The thought has crossed many of our minds, but without evidence nobody said much about it. But now that we know some of the top movie critics were being offered a sickening amount of money, I think that changes our calcuation.
Maybe it was movie money (as Zach was reviewing movies). Maybe it was Disney money to protect Marvel comics & Marvel movies. Maybe it was DNC/USAID money. Who knows. But once one PR/Marking machine figures out that Zach is for sale and has a price, I can see the offers keep on rolling in for any number of areas.
Maybe he took a paycheck here or there enough to ruin his credibility and lose his audience, and now he is left seething. Maybe the people who paid him off knew this, and are enjoying the long lasting fruits of a few pay-days, and letting him stew in his own juices. Mission accomplished.
But it would make the the abrupt heel turn make sense.
----
On the flip side, and this would require an extra layer of conspiracy, what if Zach's best buddy Ethan Van Sciver isn't just a narcissist, but is taking a pay check to destroy the independent comic industry. Gate keeping who he decides is allowed to produce comics, and who to sick his crowds after. Trying to destroy everyone else. Ethan Van Sciver has done more to destroy the Independent comic book scene than anyone else I know.
