Seriously, the last two are (mostly) well-drawn, but it's so hard to see the characters on those backgrounds, it doesn't help make a good reference.

The funny/sad thing is, half of those would look pretty decent if they got some normal colors.

Yeah, but I wouldn't want to be the artist that had to draw it... Also, it says 'summer coat'. Which means there's MORE DETAILS, depending. How much do you want to bet it changes color seasonally too?

Yeah, that color scheme could totally work for, say, an RPG character, it doesn’t have to be an animal too! It could an elf or a fairy.

well there are palette generators online now so you don't have to put in any effort to think about the colour schemes of things.

Late to the species discussion but fuck it:

Adoptables, in my eyes, are already pretty dumb because people can just design their own characters for free, but closed species make even less sense. How does giving it the "closed" label stop people from just drawing their own? It's extremely rare, if at all, that artists actually copyright these things. Nothing's gonna stop someone from making their own character from the species except for a whiny journal from the creator (lol, as if it'd do a thing). I wonder if someone has done that and just told the artist to fuck off if they complain.

I can understand adoptable when someone who has no artistic ability wants an actually decent looking character and not just color vomit. But closed species is the dumbest thing I have ever witnessed

Some of the designs can get creative, but it's not something that you can't think of on your own.

Agreeing that the Closed Species community deserves its own thread.
Watching people pass around and spend ridiculous amounts of cash on pixels sounds entertaining.

Which is absolutely bizarre - if these artists worked on building a brand based on these species (Story, webcomic, worldbuilding, just merchandising) the fanbase would be free marketing. But, why work on something if you can just make money of drawing a silly dog?

They're using Relative Screen Coordinates/RSC, instead of Absolute Real Life Positioning/ARLP apparently...
