My new kitten gets so excited to see me that she will leap from across the chair and then grab onto my jeans and start climbing up my pant legs in order to be picked up and held.

Theres a lot of info not in here. Best advice I can give is regularly scheduled play times for ~20 minutes each day. How many depends on how old but for a cat at the pants scaling stage probably at least three. That will help teach her boundaries and prevent velcro behavioural issues.

Also remember to play with designated toys rather than hands to keep them from thinking biting/clawing hands is a normal thing.

I took my little shitter to the vet this morning. She was having loud breathing intermittently through the nights and early mornings which went on for a couple months. She was acting find otherwise but I decided to schedule a vet visit anyway so I would stop worrying (my vet is usually booked up a week or more in advance.) Well of course during that week all these symptoms mysteriously stop, vet says it was probably just mucus/sinus drainage possibly due to allergens. She (my cat) was due for a distemper shot so it wasn't a total wasted visit. I love her to death and want her as healthy and happy as possible. If you decide to own a pet you owe it to them to get all their shots, get them medically cleared, get spayed/neutered, and provide them with food, water, shelter, and love. It's really not as hard as it sounds and you get so much back. There are tons of stray animals out there that need homes but only a lucky percentage of them get saved.
