Cat "parents", cat ladies and similar weirdoes

Let's discuss the not so recent massive increase in the amount of people treating Mr. Whiskers as their child or even a boyfriend.
They're pretty hard to miss, owing to the fervor with which they broadcast their inability to fulfill their maternal/paternal desires. They spend inordinate amounts of money buying toys and useless furniture, only to let the cute little furry fucker outside so it can maul the local birds for sport at it's leisure.
Out of the blue they'll start sharing details of their sexual histories — as these specimen are generally women, expect lots of bragging about spreading their legs for strangers as if they are the fishermen — following this maneuver are usually accusations of misogyny, with or without invocation of the incel menace.
To top it off, they will become extremely angry once you point out their feline companion doesn't count as a legacy and contributes nothing valuable to society at large.

My main gripe with this kind of people is, that they insist on keeping alive even severely congenitally deformed kittens and other cases that have no chance of dignified rest of their life.
Their overtly emotional and recently AI-aided online presence is what their donators listen to, but I am afraid that if I gave money to a cat rescue, they'd drown it in expensive and pointless surgeries of an 18yo terminal cancer patient with a tumor that ate away half of its head or something that horrible. While they'd still be constantly short on money and time that could be spent on healthcare and quality of life of many cats with perfectly treatable conditions.

At 18 I was put in charge of a severely dysgenic cat by my dad and sister who both heckin love cats but cant be asked to take care of them. This thing was allergic to everything, pissed everywhere all the time, was constantly sick, and then because they couldnt do the bare minimum when they had the money, the fucker got pregnant and subsequently abandoned its kittens, who were also dysgenic abominations who never had a chance at life. Ofc when they all kicked the bucket I had to bury them and so many other failed attempts at empathy.

All footage I've seen of houses that had >5 cats in it were insanely dirty and messy, some even had cat shit all over the place, and clearly the owner didn't care about the health concerns associated with such environment (for them or the cats).

Honestly this looks more like a meme based on the idea of what people think this is how cat owners act, which on itself is also a meme at this point. Actual scolding involves speaking to the cat by asserting dominance over it in a language it understands (I'm not using this as a metaphor of abuse, I'm literally saying one needs to know cat's body language)

I don't think it's about cats specifically. Crazy cat ladies aren't crazy because of cats, the cat abuse is just their personal brand of self destruction. I knew of "crazy dog ladies", they were even more prevalent in my life, but people are just biased so there's no "crazy dog lady" stereotype. Or crazy dog person general, some guy kept many borzois in a tiny ass apartment. Everything was the same, their houses were covered in dog shit and pee, and so on.

letting them out for outdoor play while watching out for them is fine. cats (and dogs) are outdoorsy hunter animals, i wouldnt want to keep them cooped inside forever.

but just letting them "roam off" as an "outside cat" is kinda fucked. they're terrible for the environment, one of the worst things for the environment even. and also I'd be preoccupied with the idea that the feline is getting killed by a car or gator or some shit. idk how people do it so casually.

I have cats. Got them for the children really. They are beautiful animals, we take good care of them, and love them dearly. There’s no fur baby nonsense in this house, but we do enjoy our cats. We spoil them and I’m not ashamed of it.
My eldest kid has a cat curled up in their lap and has the responsibility of feeding and brushing them, which is great for teaching children responsibility.
The uk has an ‘outside cat’ culture and it’s seen as cruel to keep them cooped up. My old cat was outdoor but these are indoor and they’re desperate to get out

My brother married a cat lady and the two somehow turned my mom into one after they moved in with her with their four cats. Whole house smells like cat piss, and the garage stinks of cat shit and kitty litter. Its not even that they're shitting and pissing on the floor, its just that cats have really good kidneys and digestive systems so their piss and shit reeks to high heaven. But they're all so used to it they don't even notice.

When I was visiting one day my mom stopped me in the hall to show me a 5 minute video on her phone of the cats slowly mauling the local wildlife to death. She was laughing the entire time over how cute the cats were while the animals were screaming and being eaten alive.

I like cats. I've catsat a chunky one before for a friend and had a good time. But actually owning more than one of them at a time really does something to a person's brain that fucks them up for life.
