I was on the r/politics thread about the Massachusetts primary, and I saw people talking about how excited they were to vote for Wu. I was shocked. Lynch is, legitimately, significantly more conservative than a lot of the voters in the Boston parts of the district, but also, Wu is terrible. If Ayanna Pressley, the challenger in the 7th district, were running in this race--yeah, she'd have a chance, and voting for her would make sense. But Brianna Wu?

Also, speaking of Ayanna Pressley, if she wins, perennial candidate and transgendered individual Althea Garrison gets on the Boston City Council (Garrison came in fifth; if one of the at-large councilors, of whom Pressley is one, leaves for some reason, the fifth place person gets the seat). Kinda hoping she wins just 'cause Althea Garrison getting on the city council would be hilarious.

/r/politics is astroturfed to hell and back, between the various trolls farming karma by being as hyperprogressive as possible and the bots that shower everything remotely anti-Trump with upvotes, I wouldn't take anything posted there even remotely seriously. The subreddit is affected by too many outside groups trying to control the narrative for the rhetoric there to be illustrative of where leftists are at, politically. To get a finger on the pulse of what your average reddit leftist truly believes you have to go to more obscure places like /r/ChapoTrapHouse, where the tankies get to post unironically without getting banned.
 
Wu did not do any of those things he’s claiming. Except not working hard enough. He barely worked at all on his campaign outside of tweeting. He poorly paid others to do his campaign work, outsourced it all like rev60 development.
 
Damn, looks like my dreams of Voehl getting more votes are going to be dashed.
 
One one hand, it would be a great material for us for Wu to win. On the other hand I have an empathy for people in 8th district and don't want them to be in a shit spot for our enjoyment. If Wu gets too much votes the "political Wu" might continue, but truth to be told, I'm looking forward to new saga. Or even a return of "indie game dev Wu", a sequel to Revolution 60 is very welcomed thing.

I fully expect Wu to one day brag about how he got 40% against the incumbent, a career politician, in his first ever campaign.
