I'm a little late on this, but I found the revelations coming from the declarations of income documents to be pretty interesting. As others have mentioned, 175k is nothing to scoff at, but it's actually a bit less of an income than what I thought based on all the talk around here about Frank being so loaded. The Northeast, specifically the greater Boston area, is a pricey place to live. Including the money from John's ongoing grifts, you are looking at a combined household income around 200k . This puts you in the top 10%, but you are still in a position where you can either do things like invest in some kind of assets and normal life (home, family, retirement fund, investment property), or play sugar daddy to, a grotesque, gold digging, con-artist, tranny. At that income level, you would really be hard pressed to do both.

What stands out to me is that John's hot rod is almost the perfect analogy to the relationship between John and Frank. The car, because of it's flawed design, was essentially defective the day it rolled off the lot. It no doubt spent most of it's prime years undergoing expensive upkeep due to inherent unreliability and instablity. When it was finally cast away by it's original owners, it was snapped up by a low-rent, unsophisticated thrill seeker who, for various reasons, lacked the means to get anything better and was hell bent on modifying and shaping the car into something that it was not and never meant to be in a vain effort to be able show boat around town. John's "classic sports car" is Frank's "true and honest woman".

You can see, that even in what Wu wants to 'be', she hasn't got her priorities straight:
She wants to be a "hip, but old-school", "21 years young, but 35-year-old wise and experienced", "feminist, but capitalist", "politician, but successful business woman", "tough-as-nails, but under constant harassment", "gamer-girl, but near-professional runner" ... and so on.

Yay, another award in cronyism. We've seen the level of Frank's writing and let's just say it leaves much to be desired even among his network of sci-fi nerds.
