To be successful on the internet as any kind of commentator that people actually want to listen to, you need to find any audience even dumber than you are.

It def helps, in Xanderhal's case he is constantly fighting against people producing better content in terms of rhetoric and production as well as people with the exact same takes as him., notifications get an extra second of "Ehhhhh I'm bored and don't want dead air, maybe Xan has said something slightly outside the norm" The double edged sword is that people actually watching his content after long absences is prob the reason people are unsubbing.
