Difference between David Ortiz and Barry Bonds? One was nice to reporters and the other despised them. Same reason Albert Belle didn't win the 95 AL MVP. Faggots are allowed to vote for the HOF and they're easily butthurt when they don't get treated like royalty.

On the topic of players passing away, long time player Gerald Williams died on Tuesday after battling cancer. He was 55. He played parts of 14 seasons in the Majors between 1992 and 2005 most notably for the Yankees.

Two little fun facts:
  • he was drafted 12 picks after everyone's favourite player, Ron Coomer
  • he was one of 14 children, only one of which was a girl

Yesterday, long time Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman announced his retirement after 16 seasons with the team who drafted him. As the 4th overall pick in the 2005 draft he was the first ever player drafted by the Nationals after they left Montreal; he made his MLB debut just three months later having played just 67 minor league games. Outside of some rehab assignment games he was in Washington fulltime.

Then today in more Nationals news, it came out that prior to the lockout the team offered their 23 year old phenom outfielder and Scott Boras client Juan Soto a 13 year extension worth $350 million dollars which he turned down.

An interesting article. Disagree that fans need baseball now more than ever. When pro sports went "woke" two years ago stopped watching any pro sports. Was a fan of "my" team, the St. Louis Cardinals, for over 50 years, simply walked away. Still get a baseball magazine but look more at past baseball rather than things happening now.


 
Of course I became a season ticket holder ahead of this season like a retard. Anyone know how refunds work? Does the entire season have to be cancelled for me to get money back?
 
Whenever the season starts up Apple TV+ will be launching "Friday Night Baseball" on their platform. They'll have the exclusive rights to two games every Friday as a doubleheader. They're also launching a new show similar to RedZone called "MLB Big Inning" that will air every weeknight.

Japanese games are an absolute bastard to license since most teams are contracted to separate networks.

They'll probably just do the KBO thing and show more college baseball on the main networks until that's over and then they can also fill time with more Little League World Series prelims which is totally fine with me, since that's still one of the great untouched treasures of American sports.

There's enough content to fill programming after late August so they shouldn't hurt too much for a few months.
