Yes, but I've spent hours on end over at least the preceding week on Checkered Deck/Purple Stake. It demonstrates how insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.
I have come up short on the final boss blind by single digits. It's a miracle my bedroom door is still intact.
Even on white stake it can be a toss up, but having a hang of the game can mitigate the losses for sure. Allot of the time once you gain an understanding of the game you can scrape by a decent amount of the time even with a mediocre joker lineup. The real difficulty lies in moving up through the stakes. I said it in some other Balatro thread: Gold stake is one of the worst, most frustrating experiences I've ever had in gaming. Took me over 20 hours of banging my head against a wall until the stars aligned. Now going back to the first point, having 200+ hours in the game probably helps to win often on white stake? Lol. But even then the game, like most roguelikes, is just unadulterated rng and no matter what anyone claims, you can't just bend the game to your will and it doesn't matter how "skilled" you are, the game is more unforgiving than not.
Now I'm sure there's some youtuber that has 3k hours in Balatro and can win 10 games in a row regularly with scientific calculations that would love to refute my claims, but that's the outlier.
