sorry to bump for situation 1 i would make my wife get an abortion if she refuses i would threaten to leave her and then follow through. aint paying child support either (well she'd have to find me first)

for situation 2 i would heal the child of the brain illness but if they get autism i would put them up for adoption.

But if i would have to leave my wife then I would remary and try again to have children with a good smart and strong woman. We would get our genes tested to see if we can have strong and smart children if not we'd adopt a non autistic orphan to be our adopted child. honestly i fully support eugenics (NOT in a nazi way but to save lives from genetic illensses) the human race is supposed to get stronger and smarter not go in the reverse.

But anyway if eugenics comes i would make sure any bad genes my future wife and i would have would be edited out so we can have strong and smart children and grand children.

1. Abort definitely. If it's unborn, it has no concept of self and therefore I don't have a problem with terminating the pregnancy if there's an extremely high chance that the child will be born a retard and never able to live a decent life.

2. No idea honestly. Part of me wants to say that I would let them live out until it gets to be too bad, and then just euthanize. I'm sure that a fully functioning person never wants to become a barely functioning vegetable.

Scenario 1: Death.

Scenario 2: I'm one of those people that believes autism is genetic. Still, death.
 
Scenario One: Try again with the wife, try to ease kid's suffering.

Scenario Two: See one.
 
Life is hard enough without having a child who will never be independent, never stop draining your finances, and never let you have a life.

Like, when I see parents of autistics crying about how hard life is on Dr Phil or some other feel-good talk show, the audience all boos and hisses, the host chastises them for their "selfishness" and says the child is a "gift".

Hey Dr Phil, how about this: give up your talk show, because you can't maintain a career. Give up going out or having hobbies, no more date night or alone time with your spouse, because you can't ever take a break from babysitting. Give up any kind of creature comforts because every dollar must go to supporting a child who will never return on that investment in any way. Give up any social life at all, because even if you had time for friends (you don't) no one wants to be around your destructive, hostile offspring. Oh, and by the way, there is no support structure of any kind to help you. Your 200 lb kid will never talk or dress themselves and physically beats you when you don't do what they want? Society just says "good luck" and turns away.

Give all that up yourself. Then come down on someone else for regretting everything this child has stolen from them.

I can be more forgiving of the other parents of autism who insist these children are "gifts". Because they've lost everything so thoroughly they have to believe the child is a gift or they'd probably kill themselves. Like a rape victim who is traumatized so terribly, and receives no help or support, and so tells themselves they actually really wanted it because the idea that they are so powerless and dehumanized is breaking.
