[The Golden Bough] is one i'd never even heard of.
You haven't heard of The Golden Bough and you call yourself a hippy? Granted few people have read the complete thing (I read a 300-page abridged version), but not even having heard of the title despite having an interest in outlandish supernatural shit? Tom you really are an uncultured swine.

lol. dude is real and you're just an angry adult autistic asshole flinging poo at me for social status in a room full of angry autistic adult assholes.
I'd much rather fling a mop, broom, dustpan, industrial grade Fabuloso, lysol wipes, and a book on how to shit in a toilet for dummies at you.

no. that's one i'd never even heard of. a friend in college was a retired army special forces major studying for an MBA. we discussed population management and revolutionary thought a lot and those were books on his reading list. The Robert Anton Wilson is my own suggestion for people who are interested in the actions of secret societies and their impact on historical events.
I'll check them out,
Frazier's Golden Bough is an anthropological study, ostensibly aimed at the development of the succession to the priesthood of Diana at Aricia, but it delves into, explores and includes a whole host of weird esoteric ritual practices from a bunch of different cultures from around the world. Iirc there's a section about male priests who would live as, and were treated as female, possibly some of the earliest solid documented cases of swapping gender roles. It's a multi volume book though and it's years since I studied it so I can't recall which section it's in exactly.
Just in case you're interested.

The unabridged version I think is 12 volumes, it's rare because there's not much interest, as the abridgement covers most of the most interesting and important stuff, and pretty fucking expensive too.
For someone building an Occult Library it's one of those must haves for reference.

it sounds like it. i've never read anything more than 2 volumes of ancient history and fables. there are numerous accounts of transgender priestesses and a several ancient rulers were thought to be transgender. It's been postulated that Joan of Arc was a transman. There are a lot of interesting links in this search; so many, I couldn't choose one and am leaving that to you. https://www.google.com/search?q=tra...ome..69i57.10416j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

I'm aware of the priestess of Cybele and Attis, they came up when I was doing research for a degree, was an interesting tangent but my main focus was elsewhere so I wasn't able to get too deep into it at the time, I'll check it out, thanks.

Yet you mock... No Odyssey or Beowulf, or Canterbury Tales? No 5 Rings? Prose Edda, or the Epic of Gilgamesh? That's all middle-high school stuff, and you've never pushed past a second volume of a collection. Very impressive.

Did they cover this in your fish tank maintenance degree?

i'm not real busy this week and should probably put together a little compilation from those links.

Those are all classics and worthy additions to any library, excepting Canterbury Tales... I know, I know, but I just can't get past Chaucer's horrible Middle English dialect, I don't mind Shakespeare (especially Hamlet) but I can literally make more sense of Beowulf in Anglo Saxon than I can Chaucer, Middle English of Chaucers time is a fucking headache to read, it's just enough like Modern English for my brain to short out and get confused, whereas something like Beowulf at least I know I'm reading another language, if that makes any sense?

Nah, that's fair. Middle English is a mouthful of garbage. Dante did better on a hellscape anyway.

Thomas would not survive the apocalypse. Either he'd try to suck up to a local warlord and get shot in his stupid head, lynched by righteous citizens who don't want child molesters around, robbed and killed by bandits, or the one my money is on, he attempts to lure in and molest a dog only for it's pack to show up and tear him to shreds.

More like there isn't one close enough to hit before i lose the load in my pants. You are bullying somebody who has had to manage this all their life and rarely shits themselves. I don't think you understand what that means to civilized people who live by the Golden Rule.
This is fucking gold this thread has me loosing my shit every other post

He’s too reliant on others to survive a collapse of society. If civilisation fell, we’d need labourers and skilled workers. Anyone else had better have a damn good reason why everyone else should share with them.

Tom likewise.

why would you post this, Tommie? You're a known cynosexual, saying anything about vets here is like throwing raw steaks before, well, dogs.
i can only conclude
you like the negative attention, you thrive on it, because without negative attention, you would have none at all.

@Procrastinhater
yeah, the complete golden bough is a beautiful thing.
but, like Burton's 16 volume nights or the Soncino Talmud, they are old works, and publishing a reprint of the multi volume edition will not
happen because the interest just isn't there.
