Total crap. I have never in my life bought a 'latest product'. I am typing on a 2012 laptop. But it's not that the 'latest' products are more expensive, all new products are more expensive, and used prices are rising too. All so that kike scammers like Altman can waste massive amounts of investor cash, much of it taken from the pension funds of actual human beings, to try to become the Amazon of AI.

Buying a good M1 when they first came out (and it was damn hard to buy a bad one, even the 8GBs still do well but fuck me if the single monitor shit was a complete clusterfuck) was probably one of the best bang/buck ever for a computer. Those things are still running fine.

Managed to get an order in at Amazon yesterday for a 14" M5 Pro MacBook Pro w/24 GB RAM and 13" M5 iPad Pro before the price increases hit on Amazon. Looking now, it seems they're already sold out of that particular MacBook config. Sucks, but Tim Apple was warning weeks ago about price increases happening soon.

There is a reason Macs cost more, it is because they are worth more because they are higher quality in materials and workmanship.

Also, in bad times people tend to buy better-made things so that they will last. Most sensible people would buy a $800 MacBook Neo over a $200 Windows laptop, because that Neo is probably going to outlast five of the $200 shitboxes.

It doesn't have to be perfect, but dammit why the fuck are they all plastic fuckshits or framework plastic POS! Just give me something that matches a macbook but runs windows you absolute faggots! I'd even PAY for it, I'm sick of supporting shitty HP and DELLs that continually shit themselves.

It isn't that Apple is overpriced, it is that Apple doesn't participate in the low end of the markets they operate in.

Framework just released the Laptop 13 Pro which is basically a MacBook that can run Linux or Windows 11. Only issue, its pretty pricey. I have a Framework Laptop 12 and I have had one issue with the case but after reporting it they sent me parts for free. Great people from my experience.

I've never had an Apple laptop that didn't last for years after official support was over and you had to run Linux on it. The current prices are deranged and I'm not even considering paying as much as a cheap car for a freaking laptop, nor what they're charging for current iPhones, since I don't even like them now.

The worst thing about the price increases on computer devices is that they're here to stay, no matter what happens with RAM and NAND prices.

People keep calling it "the AI bubble" but I'm not so sure. Yeah, some of the players are going to crash and and get consumed by the remaining players, but I really don't think there's going to be some sort of calamity that causes most of the players to implode and results in a hardware price crash. I keep seeing people who think or hope that is what will happen within the next 12-18 months.

Besides, all it takes is a couple years of these new, higher prices for people to simply accept them as "the new normal."

Use Parallels and a Mac can run Windows, Linux, various BSD flavours AND macOS.
