Any Freelance platforms worth a shit? - That aren't trying to be linkedin or sell your their "services" (ie a scam)

Been trying multiple platforms but most of them seem to me either outright scams, a subscription service or, worst of all, a linkedin corpospeak clone, where everyone posts cringe business topics.

I've been trying also Ai/Vibecoding ones but it's mostly "international" people willing to work for $10 for a 4 week long project. What the fuck?

literally just make your own website and shill your shit there, people on fiverr dont even do work for 5 bucks anymore.

Asking for a non-shit freelance platform is like asking for a hooker that is both cheap and beautiful.

You see it at temp agencies too. If the job is halfway decent, the employer is going to grab someone for full time, not lose them to freelancing, and a decent worker is not wallowing at the temp agency for long, since full-time/contract is more stable. The cheap and beautiful whores freelancers that live in low CoL regions can enjoy libertine lives and will undercut you forever to pursue that sweet, sweet USD. Many of them are Americans that simply relocate to the 2nd or 3rd world - just to make the freelancing financially viable.

Try to find a site that advertises a native English speaker talent pool - or advertise that fact yourself. It's your biggest advantage over the thirdies.

I was looking for free lance stuff regarding software and came to the same conclusion that it's all a scam, either get hired via connections (go build a network), or make your own projects.

I tried this about a decade ago with the same general conclusion, it might come off as bad to say but if you don't mind slugging it out I would just tell a fib out your experience and see if you can get into a consultancy job.

A lot of them used to hire indians but now will hire any native.

Means you have to deal with indians but figured needs must sometimes.
